Dear Issis: Did you happen to catch this when you read the board rules?
Messages of a commercial nature whether direct or indirect are not allowed. This includes but is not limited to business owners/representatives using their business name as their author name, posting advertorial type comments, including contact information such as web address, email and telephone number in signatures and in messages when this information was not specifically requested, soliciting business from board participants directly on the message board or privately by email and private message, conducting customer service on the board (such as making reservations/appointments, notifications of actions like intentions to call or thank you messages). Posts that state "tell them I sent you" will be removed. Business professionals can participate and establish themselves as experts on a topic by responding with helpful answers. In doing so they may sign their name and note their professional business. Their posts should remain of a general nature and may not contain requests to be emailed for more information
I always wonder when a poster only posts about one thing.
Oh, Linda, you can stop wondering!;)
1st 3 posts were all advertisements for this restaurant - what next ? Coupons??
I was just answering the question asked back I
June by a fellow poster. No personal interest. He asked for
The 411 and if anyone knew about this
Place. So if giving information on a one time
Question I'm sorry. I was under the Impression we
This was a way to keep people informed
He asked
I can see where Issis could get confused.
"Above the Cliff" has been doing this for months and even uses their business name as their author name.
I have not seen any complaints posted about that.
Very True Dave -- Perhaps it is time for another name change for the [chockman, above the cliff] -- more than a few other business owners respond here without such self advertisement - some identify themselves -some don't but most are very cautious in their answers to avoid any question of impropriety and to keep a valued reputation.
I am sure a PM to the moderator could clear up any issues someone has.
Issis answered a 3 mo. old post already answered and started TWO others! all on the 1st day of joining - all 3 about one business. They come and go.
Excuse my edits.
There is a big difference in what Chris has posted and when some pretends to give an unbiased opinion about a business or restaurant. Chris at Above the Cliff has been very upfront about who he is. His progress in starting a restaurant on STX has been interesting and informative. I have no problem with someone talking about any business in which they have an interest, as long as they acknowledge that interest.
With all due respect Ric,
There is a difference in what an individual poster has "no problem" with and what the actual board rules are.
If you take exception with misleading advertising, I suggest that you avoid New York city where there are about 10,000 places proclaiming that they serve the world's best coffee or the world's best corned beef. It also might not be a good idea to watch much TV unless you are one of those people actually thinks that wearing a Snuggie to a football game is a good idea!
Nothing wrong with changing the rules, but if you are going to change them, change them for everyone.
I need to apologize to Ric. I'm the one who posted about Above the Cliff. I didn't realize Ric was logged onto our computer.
Dave, first of all, None of us here make the rules. If the owner of the website, who posts as ISLANDER, has a problem with a poster I guess he'll take it up with the poster. I read the rules and I understand what you are saying. I did not realize that it was against the rules to post under a business name, and I assume Chris doesn't either. My point is, that when a person posts regularly about many topics, one of which is his business/job, I find that understandable. I sometimes post about my place of employment. But I also post about a lot of stuff. People who frequent this board recognize me, my prejudices, my likes and dislikes, my point of view. Whatever I post can be viewed through the filter of my previous posts. And I don't praise my employer as if I were an unbiased user of it's service.
And anyway Kentuckians shouldn't argue about stuff like this in public. Here's the important question --- Cats or Cards?? lol.
We actually went there when they first opened (during carnival). After a 20 minute wait (we missed the Zulus), we got 2 patties fresh from the microwave with the packaging from Price Smart still on them. There were only 2 other small groups in the place during our entire wait. We have never been back.
