Transportation ?s
Hi all,
I will be on island this Sunday and staying with friends who live above Hull Bay in STT for a few weeks whileI get settled. I will be working in the Red Hook area and just wondering if anybody could tell me the quickest way to commute there without a car, i.e, bus or safari or maybe taxi. My friends have offered to drive me into Charlotte Amalie with them in the morning so I could catch a bus there, but Idon't usually work til 4pm or so. It is my understanding that public transportation is pretty spotty on the northside...but I don't mind a long walk to reach the bus line. Any help would be nice! Thanks...
i'm pretty sure safari's don't go to that part of town and neither does vitran (public bus). Your best bet would be a taxi or ride with your friends or buy a cheap a vehicle while you are here.
Also, if you aren't going to work until 4 PM, one would assume you won't get off work until late at night. If so, there won't be any public transportation to even get you back into town. A taxi from Red Hook to Hull Bay will be expensive, but about the only way, and if it's really late at night, you may have a hard time even finding a taxi that will take you. Since it's a long way, and they would only be able to charge for one person, they may not think it worth their while.
Try to find transportation as soon as possible, and try to locate a rental closer to Red Hook. Good luck.
You are more likely to get responses that help on the relocation forum - If your friends can get// drop you anywhere close to Raphune Hill or the hospital, the main parking lot by the Fort, or anywhere on the waterfront you can catch the "safari" bus trucks to Red Hook for $2 - make sure they are going all the way to Red Hook or you have to change at Kmart. Getting home after about 7pm is going to be a taxi situation -try and make a good contact with the same driver nightly if you can.
