St Thomas Foster Dog Needs a Forever Home!
Hi there! My name is Sheeba and I am a one year old box/island mix and I am girl. I am small and only weigh about 25 lbs and stand about a foot tall. I was left at the Humane Society shelter because my original family was moving off the island in February. I didn't do so well at the shelter and was depressed and stopped eating enough and have gotten very skinny. My foster father, Ken, came and got me out of jail to find me a home, but he is only here until May 18th and I would hate to go back to the shelter.
Can I tell you why I need to be with you in my FOREVER home? I am a sweet girl who is very gentle and low key. I don't bark, so far I haven't had any accidents in the house, I sleep through the night, I am great on a leash, but mostly I just like to look up and see whoever is walking me, I love to give kisses on your hand, I am eating again now that I am in a home, I love to roll over and have my belly scratched, I am really good when I get a bath and I am just a nice great dog!
If you are still interested in having me as a lifelong companion, please call my foster dad, Ken at 775-240-3866 or email him to set up a time to visit with me.
If you still like me then, all you need to do is go to the Humane Society and fill out some forms and make a small donation of $55, but that would include my spay and shots and license! http://www.hsstt.com/adoptprocess.html
I hope you take the time to visit with me, I really like living in a home setting!

Hi there peeps of the VI, it is me Sheeba the Foster Dog with an update.
Today was my first full day free from jail, mostly I slept (I had some great dreams, I woke up once and found my legs moving like I was running). I am really getting to used to living in a real home again and loving it. Today my foster dad took me out in the yard without a leash and I am just a loyal gal, I just kept looking up at him and made zero attempts to run away.
I scarfed up breakfast and dinner, and of course my cookies for desert. I am starting to gain weight and my sanity.
My foster dad told me we are going to stop at the Speed Bumb Bar on Smith Bay Rd tomorrow (Fri 4/30) night to visit Tina, so if anyone wants to see me, I will be there.
I am a little sad that no one has responded to my ad today, please don't make me go back to the shelter, I am a sweet girl who deserves to be in a forever home, I wish it could be my foster dad, but he already has FIVE rescue dogs stateside that miss him.
Anyway, have a good night, I know I will sleeping on soft surfaces with a ceiling fan and screens so those mosquitoes and ticks can't find me. I will try to update you where I will be this weekend if you want to meet me!
Sheeba
Come on St Thomians. Find her a home!
Oh boy, I want an articulate, computer literate pooch but the house is full with the four little furry canines and the two felines. Good luck poochie!
Pamela
Thanks Pamela and Skys for the words of encouragement!
So tonight I went to the Speed Bumbs Bar and although there was no one there to meet me?!?!?!?
Well today was fun, I scarfed breakfast and dinner, had cookies and still am resting! I had fun at the Speed Bumps Bar, I ate some peanuts and watched all the cars go by with my gremlin ears....everyone said I was cute, but I needed to gain more weight, well what a problem to have?
So tomorrow night here is my schedule, I am going to stop by the Speed Bumps Bar, then off to Latitude 18 for some music and maybe someone at these two places will want to take me home for my forever home? Will it be you?
Have a nice weekend and hope to meet you soon before I have to go back to the shelter.
Post a pic
Hi there, I have posted some pics now!
Be careful and cover your ears around 9 PM tonight. Fireworks at Caneel Bay!
Pamela
Thanks Pamela, we sat out on the patio last night and enjoyed the fireworks!
Well I had a good weekend, went to Latitude 18 and had fun listening to some live music. Everybody said I was adorable and good and I got along with other dogs there and even a cat!
I have still yet to bark and just am a happy go lucky island dog, I just love to eat and sleep with an occaisional petting session. My foster dad said he has never had a dog before that is as low maintenace as me!
I am a little sad though as there are people who said they would take me, but they already have a bunch of dogs already or their time here is short.
Is there anyone out there that would take me in for thier forever home?
Poochie,
Have you tried June at Home Again in Red Hook?. Don't tell her I told you so but she is a softie for little brown doggies.
Pamela
Well here is an update from me, I am gaining weight and almost to where a healthy weight should be. I have become very accustomed to regular house life now and am really enjoying it. I am still sleeping through the nights, no accidents in the house and still have yet to bark.
I am getting really worried though as I have come so far over the last week and my foster dad leaves in 13 days and no one person has inquired about me. Too bad I am not a full bred dog, I am sure I would have found a home by now. I looks like my fate will be going back to the shelter. :S
ok, hound dog...
my fam thinks you have the greatest face & ears! we r so very ear ppl-LOL how are you with kids and cats? we arrive on the 23rd in the evening. well be at the crystal palace for a few weeks. how big are you again? have you hung out at the beach for your family? what about sleepovers? just a thought, i wander how that would work for ya....hmmmm??? where is this shelter?
Sheba,
Have you tried to do the poochie strut at Red Hook Mail Services? Have Ken pop his head in to let Barbara know you are coming in so she can take care of the resident dog first. Introduce yourself to the ladies. They will let you leave pictures and maybe at the very least give youa foster home for a little while after Ken leaves 🙂 Who knows you might find your forever home there.
It's tough searching but you'll get there!

I am great with cats and dont see why I wouldn't be great with kids, I was beaten by my old owners as everytime I have my foster dad puts my leash on me I fall to the ground b/c I think I am going to get hit. I am really sweet and gentle, but I really dont want to go back to the shelter again! I am sure I would love the beach, but there are only a few dog beaches here and my foster dad works 7 days a week on his laptop and last weekend it was raining. Are you going to be here full time?

Thanks Pamela, I will have my foster dad stop by there in the next two days, he is behind as he had to go the best dentist in STT today to get a cavity filled and has some catching up with work to do, he already has some great color brochures made up that he can drop off there, maybe on Friday afternoon he can go there and we can get a pizza too at Island Time? Or if you want he can email you the brochure too, ken@ken-wiseman.com for you to post on your travels?
By the way does anyone know if I can still travel by air this time of yr on AA, I might end up being a Nevada Island dog, I like Black Jack and Craps, I can hide cards in my big ears! 😎
Sheebs
yes love, you can travel on aa so long as the temp upon departure form any city is lower than 85 degrees. and my family is moving there permanently. i hope you can at least find another foster family. if your under 20 lbs, you can ride in the cabin with dad, otherwise youll be below in cargo. i would love to meet you in june! even to 'borrow' you for a walk or play date. let me know if you get another foster family...xoxo jett family
Well so far a dissapointing weekend. I had a family come look at me on Friday afternoon, they were going to take me after I got spayed. They were going to go the humane society on Sat, but overnight they had changed their mind. :S
Time is running out for me, is there anyone out there that wants me?
you are adorable! if i wasnt moving there long after your dad would be gone, moving to a different island, or already flat broke from the two pets i have i would gladly take you home! i hope with all my heart that you find a good home soon!
I take it the meet and greet didn't go well? My heart goes out to you baby.
Pamela
hey.....Don't really know who is posting this (obviously not the dog)...but, is there any chance you can ship her to the mainland? I'll take her.
imij
You must be an awesome person! The world needs more like you. Wow; no bow wow! 😀
AWESOME NEWS!
I have been adopted by a caring STT couple who have already adopted before from the Humane Society! I am going to be a sister with Cleopatra and living in a cool pad at the end of a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood that is dog friendly! My new parents told me I was going to be sleeping in their bed too! This is always a good sign of a good home! I hope Cleo likes me.
My foster dad took Pamela's advice and we hung out at Red Hook Mail Services until someone told me I would be theirs! My dream came true.
Thanks Ken for taking me out of the shelter and fattening me up and giving me love so that I had confidence to show others I was a good dog and deserved a forever home! I will miss you, and you made me sad when you left me crying, but I know I am going to a good place!
Thanks to everyone out there that gave a darn, dont forget, I still have some old shelter mates at the Humane Society that need you too, and if you can't give a home, my friends can always use a monetary donation to help with our costs. My foster dad gave $200 when I got adopted to help out.
Humane Society Donations - Make sure you mention Sheeba-Ken
Hugs and Kisses,
