Need House items on St. John
Hello All,
We will be arriving for our permanent living the last weekend of September. We have secured a roomy 2 bedroom apartment in St. John while on our PMV lat week. We will be in need of all household items as we are selling pretty much everything we have here in PA. So.... if anyone knows anyone who knows anyone (and so on - which is how we found our apartment) that has any of the following items for sale, we will need things such as:
sofa / chairs
bed (and therefore some sheets)
computer desk
microwave
dresser(s)
coffee table or end tables
tv (maybe - undecided if we're bringing our flat-screen)
kitchen table & chairs
pots/pans/dishes/glasses/silverware
etc
It's ok if furniture pieces don't match as I am a whiz with decorating. Please post if you have any items or connections to people that can help us out when we get there. (we'll be checking in at connections as well when we get back)
Thanks
J & T
Strongly suggest you buy sheets in the states. For some reason it is difficult to get high quality, 100% cotton sheets on island. You can get lots of things from people who are at the other end of their advenure and are going back to the states. Check yard/moving sales when you get here.
You can also ship down your favorite few Pots + pans and whatnot to get you started...it's what we did.
USPS Mail.
Also take a look on craigslist. There were a few folksfrom St Thomas and St John moving and selling off their household items.
Check with Connections and also Tradewinds newspaper for items for sale.
During the summer it is not uncommon for hotels to remodeland sell older furnishings at greatly reduced prices.
You can also check in the Island Trader but you would need to come to STT and haul stuff back.
Thanks for the suggestions, all. 🙂
Connections had a few items posted on the For Sale board, but not a lot of what we're looking for. We'll look into the posts on craigslist (we spent days on there looking for apartments, but haven't thought much about it for furniture, etc) and ads in Tradewinds.
USPS priority mail is our first choice for sending the smaller items, and we found a shipping company that will let us load our vehicle full of stuff when we have it sent, so we can bring the TV and some items that are too big for a Priority Mail box, but small enough to load in the back of the SUV...
The stuff we need are mainly furniture: bed, couch, desk, etc.
Thanks again!
I PM'd you some helpful info.
You may be in luck, some or most or all where recently listed on craigslist 🙂
