So I just signed my contract and am arriving on the island (STX) Jan 2 with a 1 way ticket. My boyfriend and I are looking foward to the adventure that follows! If anyone knows of any housing available- we are looking for a safe, preferably gated, furnished 1 bd/1ba with an ocean view. Within walking distance to the beach a plus. We are also looking for a "island car" as our plans to stay could be 3 months or 3 years and don't want to ship down our car just yet. The cheaper the better- as long as it runs it's a good car to me! My boyfriend is an electrician and will be looking for work once we arrive on the island-- if anyone knows where the best place to start looking is please let us know! He's also open to bartending, boat cleaning- whatevers available that pays the rent. If anyone has any friendly advice, I'll take that too. 🙂

This is a property management firm that often advertises for condos for rent, close to Christiansted. Are you moving with pets?

We have a 1 bed/1.5 bath loft condo in the East End of STX at The Reef. It is a gated golf course community with ocean view, beach, pool, tennis courts, restaurant, and deli. The condo is furnished and has been freshly painted with new appliances including washer/dryer and dishwasher. It will not be available until Feb. 1, however, if you are able to find accommodations for that first month, then this could be an option. The condo complex does not allow pets and it would be a non-smoking unit. The rent would be $1500 plus utilities.

I have a nice and large 1-BDR condo at St. C's, furnished, awesome ocean view, gated/guarded neighborhood that is available immediately and rents at $1500 per month plus power. It includes water and cable tv and a mailbox and pest control services. There is a receiver installed for wireless internet if you opt to start up the monthly service. The condo comes furnished and equipped and is a walk-in level unit. There is laundry in the unit. I can send photos if you are able to provide a direct email address via private message.
If you're still needing a place, I can get you into this tomorrow to see and move right in if you need to get out of a hotel to save some $$.

Not sure if this is what your looking for but I have a "Studio Condo" at "Peters Farm" close to Christianstead and minutes away from the beach at "Hotel on the Cay".
The Condo has new tile throughout.....new bathroom cabinet sink, new stove, overhead fan, new microwave, new mattress and box spring. Plenty of storage. Partial view of the ocean overlooking C'sted. Clean, bright and breezy!
$700.00 a month....includes Water and Electricity(up to $50.00)

As long as it runs? LOL, you'd be amazed just how bad a car can be and still run. People drive them until they should have been junked 5 years ago still manage to sell them for $1000 or more. There seems to be a severe shortage of decent used cars here. Most of what we have are (ab)used cars that are priced at 2-3 times what they are worth. I'd seriously consider shipping yours if it's paid for. Shipping costs around $1800 or so and you'll pay thousands above blue book for a beat up car here. Maybe your husband should go into the used car brokering business! I'd be his first customer!
