mastiff pups for sale
I am moving back to st croix but right now I am going to be selling my mastiff pups through this board . I know the year we spent on st. croix we had no problems at all just the presence of these dogs keeps people you want away they are great with familys and small children very social but no what is theres, and will not hesitate defending their familys or property. They are a large dog but very low maintenance they require little exercise and would just as soon be in a hammock as you would.please email me with any questions or for ordering information. plands1@yahoo.com
thank you
Pat
also have older trained dogs for sale you tell me what you want in a mastiff and I can probably get it
when will you be here?
I wont be back for 6 onths but have pups I can get you now.
are they english or american mastiffs? going through alearning process right now hence the questions.
How much are you selling the pupps for?
english mastiffs 2200 a piece for females males slightly higher
I wonder how much feed the Humane Society could buy for $2,200?
Plenty of FREE watch dogs at the shelter. Please adopt!
And.......If you have $2200 for a dog they could use some financial help. Well said Linda!
Adding a pet to your family is a decision not to be entered into lightly, nor for the wrong reasons. You are making a committment for life and the choice of which breed or mix of breeds, size, temperament, etc. must be something that you consider seriously and that fits in your life and lifestyle. A mastiff is a wonderful dog, but it is not a dog for everyone... just as poodles, or pinchers, or pomeranians are not for everyone. Do your research, know the breed, know what you can expect and make sure you are not adding a pet to your family just to be a "watch dog". There are far too many watch dogs on this island already that lead a lonely life , outside chained or confined...., for looks and protection... not for love. We all see them everyday and it should break our hearts. Skys the Limit and LindaJ... well said. The shelter should be one of the first places those of us who live here should go to when considering getting a new pet. Our island dogs do well in the island heat, are often not as susceptible to island deseases, they typically have wonderfully personalities and somehow know they've been 'rescued' and adore their families. They come in all sizes and temperaments. and breeds (pure and mixed).. if you are looking for a big dog ... the staff can often tell you a lot about the dogs in the kennels - how social they are, how energetic, etc. All my dogs are rescues and there are no better watch dogs on island. This is their home and they protect it . However, that being said... if you really want a Mastiff and know that you can committ to a Mastiff ... then get one... or any other Breed for that matter. BUT do your research and purchase from a responsible breeder.. or better yet a Breed Rescue Group.... For any breed.... know the breed lines, know the health history, know that the breeder will assume responsibility for the dog if you can not for any reason keep it. Do not buy from puppy mills, pet shops, or casual backyard breeders.
If your heart is set on a particular breed, then get that breed... its OK. You are making an important life decision. This poster may have excellent Mastiffs and if a Mastiff is what you really want... then research mastiff breeders and get a good one. BUT...if you are making a knee jerk reaction decision because you want a watch dog to protect your home due to recent crime reports... PLEASE... reconsider. That is not a good reason to add a pet to your life. Think long and hard about the committment you are making. If you don't have the time, love, desire and compassion to make that pet a member of your family... then... go buy a gun. go get an alarm system. put up a fence, install cameras... or move. Animals are not objects to own and park in your yard... they are members of your family and require a serious committment and lifestyle change.
And please... consider helping our local animal shelter with the HUGE job it has in this community. Everyday they take care of more than 60 adult dogs waiting for homes, and more than 50 cats and kittens hoping for a second chance... and 30 or 40 little puppies that are hoping for a forever home. Everyday they feed those hungry mouths and care for the ones that need medical care. Everyday they hope someone will come in and choose to adopt one of these homeless critters as a new member of their family. And Everyday... more dogs and cats are surrendered to them because, "it" grew to big, "it" has mange, "I've got too many" or "I'm moving and can not have "it". They need our support. They would love a check for $2200..... but they'd love a check for $10.00 almost ust as much... especially if they got 220 of them!. They have a paypal set up on their website. www.stcroixawc.org.
Sorry for the rant. VI Mastiff... if you are a good breeder you will appreciate these posts because good breeders know the important decision that is being made, would not want the homes their pups are going into to enter into the decision lightly or for the wrong reasons, and would stand behind their dogs. So... please... no offense. You probably have great dogs and I hope you find wonderful loving forever homes for each of them. We all just need to be reminded about the importance and repercussions of this kind of a decision.
Well said LimeTime.
My "watch" dogs are definitely family and not tied out. I hate seeing that!!
I understand the shelter can also use old towels and sheets for baths and rags and such. If you have unwanted items laying around your house? Take them to the shelter flea market.
If you look at what a dog costs over it's lifetime, $2200 could be argued to be reasonable to get the breed you really want.
But.......that's alot of money for a pup. I know someone that bought a $5000 German Sheperd and had his car stolen out of his yard.:-o
thank you limetime I could not have said it any bettter myself i can assure you i am a reputable breeder these dogs are my friends though at 2200 a pup I make at most 300 takes a lot of money to raise and care for mom and dad and this is her 2nd and last pups it cost 350 the day the pups are born for their initial visit then one visit a week after that with shots I wont tie a dog up or sell one of my pups to be tied up mastiffs are very smart and you can teach them there territory and to stay in it very easily they provide unbelievable protection but if I am with someone they dont ever question it and allow that person on my property they also watch my 8 year old daughter as thought she is one of their pups. Limetime is right do your research before committing to any animal i show my male and he has won many awards but a big dog takes a lot of time and money to raise.
