The Buccaneer Hotel is currently seeking strong candidates for the position of Host/Hostess.

Scope and General Purpose:
The job of the Host/Hostess involves providing general support to the restaurant staff by greeting and seating guests and bidding farewell to guests in a friendly and gracious manner. In addition to this, a Host/Hostess performs various duties, which assists in the overall presentation of The Buccaneer Hotel. A Host/Hostess assists staff in a smooth and efficient manner, and adheres to all protocols in line with the hotel’s strategy, and values.
Main Duties:
• The Host/Hostess manages special seating requests and other requirement of guests. He/she assists with the duties of Food Servers as needed to maintain service effectiveness and efficiency.
• Greeting and Seating Guests- The Host/Hostess greets guests upon their arrival in a gracious and friendly manner and escorts them to a table he/she has selected. He/she balances the guests’ flow among the Food Servers’ stations, taking into account requests for particular tables or Food Servers depending upon availability.
• Cocktail Service- The Host/Hostess will act as a Cocktail Server as the situation requires, ensuring, however that Host/Hostess duties are covered.
• Dining Room- The Host/Hostess inspects the dining room and the bar prior to opening to see that tables and side work are properly set-up, music and lighting are properly adjusted and that the dining room is in a neat and orderly condition. He/she maintains a constant alertness to the entire dining room and is aware of any deviation or problem and assists quickly and quietly in its correction, attends to guests’ complaints immediately.
• Special Information- The Host/Hostess is responsible for assembling and passing on critical information such as the number of covers, table turns, birthdays, guests special requests, etc. to kitchen, managers on duty and Food Servers. The Host/Hostess also tracks paperwork for this information.
• The Host/Hostess trains the staff regarding all phone and reservation procedures and oversees the reservation book for accuracy and works closely with the front-of-house.
• Work Area- The Host/Hostess inspects, plans, and assures that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service and are secure at the end of the shift. He/she continually cleans and maintains a neat and orderly desk.
• Telephones- The Host/Hostess assists on telephones when the telephone reservationist is on break or clocked out.
• Computer Procedures- The Host/Hostess is aware of all procedures of taking reservations and completely familiar with computer and manual systems.
• Service Handbook- The Host/Hostess is thoroughly familiar with and complies with guidelines specified in the Service Handbook.
• Meetings- The Host/Hostess attends periodic meetings as called by management such as wine seminars and Service meetings.
• All other work related duties as assigned by management.
