I know that many of you, like me, are animal lovers on this board. I just found an absolutely adorable puppy cowering behind a snowbird neighbor's trash can. He's small, super friendly, very hungry, and covered with fleas. 🙁

I have him at another neighbor's right now, due to the fact that one of my dogs is extremely anti-social. I'm planning on taking him to my vet in the morning for evaluation and suggestions on placement. If any of you are interested, this little guy really needs a good home!

Please PM me if interested, or respond to this post. If the vet doesn't give me the answer(s) that I'm looking for, including a guarantee that he won't be put down, I'll have pictures of him posted here tomorrow!

Thanks,
Lisa

I'm getting ready to take this little guy to the vet for a checkup, and to determine age, breed and health status. In the meantime, please view the website I created to see if you might be a fit for our new friend! meet this puppy

So we found out that he's an 18-week-old Queen Louise Terrier. He loves people and kids and is extremely mellow and happy. Getting ready to take him around the block now to find him a new home. If he's not gone by the time hubby gets back on island Sunday, I am SO in trouble! 😀

I wouldn't be giving him away just yet, Lisa. He could be someone's lost pet. Get him to the shelter. If he's lost, that's where the owner will look for him.

I just finished walking our whole neighborhood, and no one's ever seen him before. My next call is to the shelter, as long as they can assure me that he won't be put down!

No return call yet from the shelter... My husband would prefer that we keep the puppy and get rid of our 3-year-old salt and pepper female miniature schnauzer, instead. Any takers?? 😛

I got through to the shelter on the first try. Call Gretchen Sherrill at 514-6326. The shelter will scan for a chip and put out flyers to see if anyone is looking for their puppy. You can always adopt the pup if no one claims it.

Do the right thing and get the pup to the shelter.

They did return my call a little while ago, so that's the next step. Thanks, aussie!

Great news!! The owner of the puppy found one of the fliers I made and came to pick him up. My kids are devastated, as he had already become "one of the family", but it was obviously meant to be. Thanks for reading, and please remember to spay and neuter your pets.

My pleasure. I'm glad that the pup and owner were reunited. Well done, Lisa!

A collar and a tag with contact info could have saved alot of time and grief.

This is very true. Apparently this guy had gotten the puppy for his grandson (complete with flea infestation?) and didn't even realize that he had gotten out of the gate while the guy was at work. The puppy must have been gone a good while, though -- based on his appearance and reaction to me.
