Birth certificate: Absolute poppycock. Where on is birth certificate does it say "African-American?" It does state that the race of his father was "African." Because his father was indeed, AFRICAN (as in, a person from AFRICA). Also "The claim that Obama’s birth certificate is “sealed” is pure nonsense. Unfortunately it would never happen I'm sure because like nova said, too many friends and family commuting the crimes. I DO think that public humiliation goes a long was as a deterant. It's a hell of a lot better than what currently seems to happen here.

Criminals do deserve some constitutional rights. Nothing in the constitution eliminates all of their constitutional rights. If you believe it does please specify where in the constitution is specifies that criminals are to be deprived of all their constitutional rights. Arpaio is a racist menace who is popular in an extremely right wing state for just that reason. Furthermore, not everyone who is convicted is actually guilty. So invariably some innocent people are being abused by demagogues like Arpaio. We have enough demagogues here already and don't need to import any additional ones.

Everybody in America gets constitutional rights. Prison is not a punishment either, nor was it ever intended to be. It's containment for people unfit for society.

Oh man... I was going to write this giant long drawn out post about criminals and their "rights" but it's just not worth it. Lets go on babying them, letting them suck down our hard earned money, only to become repeat offenders because: hey jail ain't that bad. In 2010 it was one inmate average of $32,000 a YEAR. In New York, Washington state, Connecticut... $50-60k a YEAR! In 2011 we had 2.4 million people incarcerated. You do the math. The ONLY way to reduce the cost by taking away beds, meals and comforts. Thos results in a harsher time served and a fear of jail. Right now we offer CRIMINALS the chance to get an education... What the F. What about the kids who can't afford an education on their own? Seems commiting crimes can actually PROVIDE more of a chance for personal betterment than not commuting a crime. You really don't see this as totally ass backwards?

Arpio tells it how it is. Point blank. its just that we as a society are so used to hearing the candy coated "i want the vote" version that we get shocked when someone like Sherriff Joe speaks up. This PC-ness is sick and a major part of our country's problems. Criminals are criminals and should be treated as such. They do not deserve respect nor human rights as they made the decision not to respect the human rights of another.

If he would have lived and you knew he was now getting an education for FREE, three meals a day, a pillow to rest his head on, a library, AC & heat, cable TV.... after murdering 20 children... you would be ok with that? joe does not treat his prisoners like animals, he just thinks they deserve no more than the law allows. that, i see nothing wrong with.

We live here in Sheriff Joe land and love him. He is a publicity hound, But still does a great job. Yes most of his prisoners live in tent city, where during the summer they only have swamp coolers to keep them cool, but as Joe says, it is more than many of our soldiers have. They only get a few TV stations, no porn magazines, pink underwear, and chain gangs ( the inmates volunteer for that).

Have a friend that spent time there for drunk driving, cured him form doing that again.
