Wkoe up to the chirping and chittering of various night creatures. The air was cool, the moon bright in the mostly cloudless sky. Went for my usual morning run with my dogs. Nice dark road out in the country. I like to run and watch the sun come up.

I vow to be positive today. Life is good. St. Croix is a beautiful, special place.

All our islands are a beautiful place. Let's keep this thread positive and keep the optimism going amongst all the negativity. The incessant criticism and dour predictions deserve some balance.

"Source" editor Shaun Pennington has written an excellent article on the recent opening of My Brother's Workshop in its new location in Tutu Park Mall, St Thomas. This program has already proved a positive learning experience for the youth of this community, enabling them to learn skills in which they can take pride and lead them toward a life of productivity instead of down a hopeless path of aimlessness and (too often) crime.

http://stthomassource.com/blog/shaun-pennington/2012/12/05/my-brother-s-workshop-holds-key-better-lives-us-all

There are many forum subscribers who have the time and the ability to positively subscribe to island youth in so many different ways. Big Brother and Big Sister programs are open to everyone regardless of color or creed and even a few hours a week of interaction can make a huge difference in a young life. Have a business? Show a child how it works. Have a boat? Huge numbers of island children sadly know nothing about them and many don't even know how to swim. Everyone has skills to share, the possibilities are endless and young minds are like sponges, equally ready to absorb the positives as the negatives given the proper direction and motivation.

And there's another positive in the selection of the make-up of the new legislature with Malone, Sanes, Millin-Young and Coles heading up the body. There's always light on the horizon and it's not an insurmountable task for the naysayers to do a turnaround and contribute something positive rather than continuously harping on all that's wrong while doing nothing to make things better.

Just some food for thought as another beautiful day dawns.

This is an amazing healing place. Things weren't going to well for me for a while there, but it's all looking up. Be positive.

If your glass is half full or half empty, just be happy it has some rum in it.

You know, that stuff lasts forever...I bought six bottles last year December, kept them in the fridge all year, and they're still potent.

I am thankful that the Christmas winds and cool weather that is here at last!
Went to sleep lst night without even the overhead fan on!
I am thankful for any reduction in electrical usage that MAY help lower my WAPA bill.
Enjoy the holiday season everyone! It's my favorite time of year!

Happy Holidays to you too, Alana33...I actually had to use a blanket last night.
I remember one year we actually got down to 64 degrees early in the morning! It was positively wintry.
