This woman uses the Bible to tear apart so-called "sanctity of marriage"
my thought, homosexuals have been around since the beginning of time. even animals have homosexual tendencies. homosexuals were born this way, and if you believe in god, then you will know that god made homosexuals as he made heterosexuals. and if you believe in god you will know we were created in his image.
homosexuality is not something that can be changed nor should it. we are all born the way we were supposed to be born whether it is man, woman, homosexual ....etc.
if two consenting adults want to get married, more power to them.
Thank you, this is awesome.
I am glad you have this opinion. There is a hate group that started on St Thomas called "One Voice" who unfortunately for them chose MY mail box to spam with their rhetoric. Bad move on their part. I don't take kindly to ANYONE who thinks it is ok to spread hate to our beautiful islands. NO ONES religious beliefs trumps someones rights, ever.
I'm a 32 year old, single gay man moving to St. Thomas in October. Though I'm not moving to the VI with the hopes of finding a long-term partner, I just want to be sure that I'm not gonna have to look over my shoulder every time I leave the house.
I've read a lot on gay travel sites that says that the USVI isn't "the gay haven it once was," which is fine, but do anti-LGBT hate groups have a strong presence?
i have not seen hate groups that target gays. i know island people in general have more of an issue with it the mainlanders
You won't be looking over your shoulder. They PREACH the hate telling their congregants to not do business with Gay owned establishments. They have Marches and are having one Aug 24th. The are the "Westboro" of the USVI. Not to worry because when they spammed my email I took action like I never had before. Judi Buckley, one of the Senators proposed the Marriage Equality bill and they took it upon themselves to form a group and spread "The word" of bigotry. We have since formed a group and have a Facebook Page Virgin Islands Equality for All - Love is a terrible thing to hate. Look for it because then you will know who the NON-Haters are, and trust me, there are plenty much to the surprise of the "One Voice" who are spreading the hate to simply fill their collection plates. This was an actual statement made to a newspaper reporter. This is the statement that put me over the top.
"Comments on the website call same-sex marriage an abomination and a threat to the "moral fiber of society." One commenter spoke of his or her son, who committed suicide.
"My son used to be gay, but I beat it out of him. 2 weeks later he killed himself. If we keep being gay legal more kids may choose to be gay and eventually kill themselves," the person said, citing a Bible passage from the Book of Leviticus."
Yeah the Bible Thumpers like to pick and choose what they take from the Old Testament. They claim they would not be like the radical Islam groups that preach hate and kill indiscriminately, but if they had their way we would be in Roman times, with a state theocracy.
When I was in St Thomas in June I got in a taxi and the driver was listening to a local talk radio station and they were discussing this issue. I was impressed by the tolerance of the radio hosts especially when taking and answering calls from those not so tolerant. Live and let live. Be responsible for your own actions.
James no you're fine. In my circle of friends most of which are gay men. They will be excited to meet you 😉
Supreme Court Adds Gay Marriage To Sept. 29 Agenda
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has formally added gay marriage cases to the justices' agenda for their closed-door conference on Sept. 29.
The action Wednesday does not mean that the court will decide that day to hear state appeals of lower court rulings that struck down bans on same-sex marriage. But the late September conference will be the first time the justices have the issue before them. The meeting will be the justices' first since late June.
Appeals have been filed from Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. The gay couples who won in each case in the lower courts also favor Supreme Court review.
The justices could put off deciding whether to take up gay marriage until January and still be able to issue a decision by late June.
