We will never agree on this.
Pesticides are harmful to the environment.
Have a glass of Round-up on me.
Enjoy.

You see. Roundup is only 43% glyphosate. Once it is mixed in a tank it is way less. Without pesticides you and I may not be here today. That is a fact

Really? You are laughing at eradication to large extent of insect vectors of disease and pesticides which have helped agriculture produce yields of 300% more crops. You truly have no clue. You live in a bubble.

You got that right. I'm laughing.
And I don't live in a bubble.

Pesticides can be incredibly beneficial and have most certainly increased food production. They were of great importance in saving the United States' potato crops during the 1940's from insect and fungal pests, as well as controlling the boll weevil in El Salvador in 1953 (Monosson, 1).

Yet many times their detrimental effects outweigh the positive ones. Pesticides can be extremely hazardous to the human body and other living organisms, as they are designed to be a poison.

Are you an insect? A fungus or a weed? They are meant to be poisonous to those things. There are very few pesticides now that have DANGER label on them. Most have CAUTION.

Gardening is not farming, one is a hobby. One feeds the world. Actually with glyphosate resistant corn and soy farmers use no till. Organic farming (large scale) uses tilling AND is dependent upon animal waste for fertilizer.

If misused water can kill you. The idea that farmers are out there just dumping pesticides defies logic.

These people at care2 do not understand the difference between correlation and causation I guess.

Monsanto Stunned:

California has just dealt a blow to Monsanto as the state’s Environmental Protection Agency has decided to list glyphosate, the highly toxic main ingredient used in Roundup, as a known carcinogenic.

Under Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, the state is required to list and publish chemicals that cause birth defects, cancer, or other reproductive harm. If a chemical is found to be carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), they are required to be listed as well.

California... Where everything you buy has a giant label. Meh. Nice that California took the IARC findings of probable human carcinogen to known. Also Monsanto is only one of hundreds of companies who market glyphosate. Enough of the Monsanto boogeyman.

earth we are one just called glyphosate "highly toxic". It's toxicity is LESS than salt and vinegar which the people who deny science say to use instead of roundup to control weeds.

Hershey's has decided to stop using sugar from GM sugar beets. I can't find the article I was reading earlier, but they said their decision was not based on science but public demand. I lol'ed hard. So now they will be sourcing cane from sugarcane which uses 50% more land, requires 50% more water, still uses pesticides, requires the burning of fields to remove foliage and has 2x the carbon footprint of GMO sugar beets all to end up with the exact same sugar molecule. This is the problem with the anti GMO community. Their fear of science and proclamations of loving the "environment" conflict.

So environmentalists are against sugar cane farming, against GMO sugar beets.. Do they think sugar comes from Elf Farts? The environmental movement is almost cult like and definitely a ideological driven machine.
