Rescued Puppies dropped off at the shelter,, but now...
the 3 mutts we found in a dumpster have been bottle fed and transitioned to solid food, they are happy, healthy & well socialized (due to our kids & other dogs), perfect for adoption so we took them to the shelter (as they are still small and very cute, easy adopters IMO..) and while out looking for houses,,,
An iguana was spotted in the road, so of course pictures had to be taken, but this iguana didn't run away; strange...
So now we have a rescue iguana, haha apparently this lizard was attacked by dog & was sitting in the road on Carlton, his front legs are mobile but his back legs don't move (perhaps broken spine?) his body is a bit swollen but other than that he seems pretty "lively".
so we brought him home last night & are trying to see if he'll make it, unfortunately he's the "striped" tail kind, which I was lead to believe is not a local breed, I still really want to see one of those I hear they get HUGE.
Maybe I should just open a rescue zoo?
Be careful. My daughter has been bit by an iguana. They have razor sharp teeth.
They also are high carriers of salmonella and if you're bit you should also have get tetanus shot or make sure you're up to date. I used to have a 5.5 ft green iggy as a pet growing up. She was a bit€h despite the amazing enclosure I made here that was 12x6ft plexi glass with a waterfall and live bromeliads. Had to wear welding gloves to clean the cage. Was so sad that she got so territorial of the enclosure. Max (Maxina when we realized it was a she) bit my thumb and took off the nail once, but it grew back lol.
I'm pretty sure his spine is broken at his back hips, I'm going to put him down tonight, and he hasn't eaten anything since we got him (3 days).
he's pretty immobile right now, I'm not concerned about biting as he doesn't move much & probably has a lot of internal organ damage.
Yea best to end the suffering. Poor thing.
