Our police forces doesn't put with any crap. We can leave our doors open and not worry. We don't have any gangs here. There hasn't been a murder here in 18 years and it was domestic. The biggest crime we have here is people stealing from a department store. We have huge town watches and neighbors look out for each other. I can walk or run on any streets in our area and feel safe. I'm more scared of getting hit by a car then being a victim of a drive by shooting.

Connie, why don't you just stay there, then? Seems like a better fit for you. The truth is, many places in the world, like the VI, never have been and never will be like where you live.

I appreciate those people who will admit that there is a problem down in the Islands, but if you're trying to sell me otherwise, it won't work.

Just look at the threads on this forum!

This is EXACTLY why people should think before posting every robbery or every shooting or every drug deal they see. I can't imagine anyone local is disagreeing that crime is out of control BUT publicizing it SO FREAKING MUCH and in EVERY dang post is a really good way to scare off newcomers and visitors (AKA Dollars into the territory).

I think OT has the right idea, she has mentioned it MANY times and that's a block watch. Get one going in your neighborhood, report illegal activity and don't post every negative up on the boards to read. I've been reading and posting less because the forum is making me need depression meds lol. A real downer to some who is excited about being on island in a month!

I've said it before, people who haven't been on island and are looking for a vacation destination would take one look at this forum and say; hell no I'm not visiting there, everyone gets killed and does drugs there... Chaos. That's is completely not true but what else do they have to base it on other than posts from locals?

Then again what'd a I know
Connie I'm bit bagging on you BTW, just used your words to express mine:)

LOL. All you people do on this board is complain about the islands. WAPA, food prices etc. I've been reading this board for 4 years. Same complaints. Hypocrites*-)

(tu)

The poor horse is long dead and its continual flagellation is the only thing keeping it twitching. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Very true.. 😀

The problem is that people do get killed. Why not let vistors know the areas and behavoirs to avoid? Why try to pretend that certain areas are safe when they aren't? Pretending doesn't make it any safer.

Constantly posting about it in a Relocation forum doesn't make anyone safer either. Don't understand why Islander doesn't move this and similar to the the coconut vine forum.

Last night's Christmas boat parade and fireworks was a great community event. Packed boardwalk, lots of families, more street vendors than ever, and everybody having a great time.

John Eddies is a great addition to the waterfront. Hope more investments like that are made. They did a great job.
