Guns
Are guns allowed in the Virgin Islands?
Privately owned that is, are there any hunting opportunities?
There's nothing to hunt/kill.
You have to jump thru a lot of hoops to bring a gun in to the islands and have it properly licensed.
If you do a search on the relocation forum (see link under "forum list" above) you'll find links to threads which explain the whole procedure in detail. However, as Alana says, there is nothing to hunt here and I would add that we prefer you NOT bring your firearms here.

"We"? Is there a poll I missed?
I personally don't care if anyone brings a gun here, as long as they follow the established laws, and are vigilant about keeping it secure.

WE think it is a good idea to arm yourself for personal protection.
If you meet the qualifications, by all means bring your firearms. More armed citizens will always result in less crime. Its your right as an American. It doesn't matter what anyone would prefer.

Exactly why the crime rate in the US is ZERO, amirite?
Didn't mean to start a war, jusr curious. Responsibly armed citizen that won't travel/live where laws keep me from doung so. There are fanatics on both sides I am neither.

So you arguing that legal gun owners are responsible for crime?
I don't think its legal gun owners pushing the murder count to > 500 (est 2016) for the year and damn near 3000 shot (2015) in Chicago, but i could be wrong and would appreciate you enlightening me on the number of shooting perpetrated by legal gun owners

Disagree. I've seen 2 nice 8pt bucks on STX and plenty of Doves
Now if you had said there's nothing one can legally hunt...
Sorry about the spelling in my earlier post, was sitting on the back porch enjoying a cigar(without my glasses)
My wife and I plan to visit this summer with the intention of buying a retirement home.We expect to move there full time in about 3 years with our son who will be around 11 at that time. We enjoy shooting/hunting together and weren't sure if that would be possible there. Are there any skeet/gun clubs?
There's one shooting range - on St Croix.
Two...

I never said anything of the sort, was just refuted the nonsense about more "armed citizens" equals less crime. That is pure fiction. So, when a "legal" gun owner does use his weapon for evil is he just a "bad seed"? Because obviously every law abiding legal gun owner was ok with their fetish toy, until they weren't.
We don't need to be killing defenseless deer and doves.
Shoot each other if you must have a gun and leave the animals alone.

I grew up EATING mountain doves when I was a kid.

They are delicious. Also, we should put defenseless animals in the backs of our SUVs because they "look cold". I love animals. As pets, medium rare, in the wild, but man, since we are the dominant species, needs to cull animals to maintain healthy populations. I would love some fresh venison and would get a hunting weapon if a deer season was allowed (not hat it should with too many homes)

But they taste so good

Same could be said for many things - Alcohol. GMO foods, Autos, Boats, airplanes, etc
Whats pure fiction is making blanket claims with a lack of proof, correlation doesn't equal causation

I disagree. Bringing firearms here (legally) is quite simple. And if you follow proceedure getting them licensed is easy, too. It doesn't happen overnight. But it's not a big deal.,
I find the hypocrisy amusing when it is perfectly OK to kill fish with a spear gun.

Indeed and I count myself as a total hypocrite where this is concerned. I don't think I could ever kill an animal for food (even the times I've gone fishing it's been really difficult and the majority of the time I throw the catch back in the water!), absolutely could never hunt for "sport" - but eat meat and fish, My hypocritical bent has never allowed me to eat venison, rabbit or veal. Selective hypocrisy! And yes, I acknowledge the dichotomy.
FWIW - A couple of nice bucks - east end STX

Very nice deer indeed>

cognitive dissonance = / = hypocrisy
holding two opposing ideas (cognitive dissonance) is not the same as hypocrisy.... unless OT is actually out there spearfishing and killing animals (I don't think so) then she's just holding two ideas that oppose eachother; which is totally human AND I think one of the things that separates us from the animal world.
