DRIP accounts
Hi
I was wondering if anyone has used a direct investing company ( DRIP ) in the past? what have been your experiences, what did you think about the program? really, any information at all would be helpful and appreciated
Are you asking about DRiPs or a brokerage that reinvests your dividends?
Some DRiPs require that you have at least 1 share issued in your name (Vs being held in a brokerage account). There may be a fee for the broker to issue the share in your name.
Probably easier and have greater flexibility to go the brokerage route (Most don't charge for the reinvestment) and the costs to buy shares is probably less than the issuing fee
Computershare seems to be the most popular option for companies that manage DRiP programs. They're good to work with if you go that route - https://www-us.computershare.com/investor/3x/plans/planslist.asp?stype=all
thank you for your reply. years ago i had read about DRIP's, looked them up online. directinvesting.com. you can purchase individual shares and anytime the price goes up or there is a split, it gets directly reinvested into the stock.
i guess i was asking mainly about the company directinvesting. not really sure if this is how i want to do it or just go through a broker. but with directinvesting you can buy 1 share or as many as you want but there is always a minimum amount on each company
not sure what this computer share is you are referencing
Computershare manages company sponsored DRiPs. If you are enrolled the fee to invest are very low
No familiarity with directinvesting.com or their fee structure,
thank you very much
