(tu) Tammy.
The ratio is 5 Democrats to 2 Republicans who started wars since World War I:
World War I: Woodrow Wilson, Democrat
Huh? Wilson was an isolationist. According to biographer August Heckscher from 1914 until early 1917, Wilson's primary objective was to keep America out of the war in Europe, and his policy was, "the true spirit of neutrality, which is the spirit of impartiality and fairness and friendliness to all concerned.". The US didn't enter WWI until early 1917 after Germany's commitment to unrestricted submarine warfare and sinking of several American ships.
But of course we all know only congress can declare war:D
That didn't answer the question asked.

Ditto mtdoramike! Thanks Rotor for your post on who was president during wars the U.S. was involved in though we didn't start all these wars.
Alana, I don't think any of the republican candidates are misogynist, xenophobic, racist, bigoted or delusional. I certainly hope that they are all pro corporation. You know the companies who employ people?
I own a corporation. It employs 15 people. Up until the last two years all my employees had 100% of their medical and dental payed. Two week sick and vacation payed. At the end of the year all profits that were not reinvested back into the company were divided among the employees as bonuses. I also allow my employees to bring their infants to work until they they are 1.
Two years ago I had to lay off 5 employees. They have had no bonuses or pay raises for the past two years and two years before that I gave them my paycheck for their bonuses. This year I could no longer pay for their medical. I have lowered my own pay to barely cover my living expenses in order not to lay anyone else off. I have been in the states for the most part of the last two years to try and keep the doors open and not lay off any more employees.
My company builds differential pressure gauges. They are used in every power plant, oil field, navy ships, water treatment facilities, cryogenics and in every industry that has to measure differential pressure. This is world wide. Up until 5 years ago we could not keep up with all the work we had. As a direct result of the Obama administration we are struggling to stay afloat.
I am one of those angry people you hear about that are voting for Trump. I remember when America was great. I remember before we started making "bad" deals with other countries. I remember after NAFTA that my home town of Greenville, S.C. went from a prosperous wonderful place to, no jobs at all. For 10 to 15 years it was horrible until SC offered some great tax benefits to lure new business in. Thank God for GE, Michelin who came in and bought new jobs. Yay!!!! Corporations who hire people!!!!!
How long under our current administration do you think it will be before they go to other countries because the cost of doing business here is so high. I remember the Ford plant here in Norfolk, VA. They were great to work for. Now they are gone! Even as they shut down they gave their employees huge bonuses. I'm talking 20 to 40K plus retirement if they were eligible.I have a machinist from Detroit. You know, everything is pretty shut down there now. Yep! Much cheaper to do business over on the other side of the water. He is a master machinist who cannot find a job. OMG!!! He is worth his weight in gold. I pay him a quarter of what he used to make and he is happy to get it.
I won't even start on Bernie or Hillary but I will tell you that if you start taking money away from people who create jobs and put them out of business then we will have a real mess on our hands. I do, however, respect your and all people opinions and your right to voice them. Not to mention those pesky emails among other things.
Before you call me a racist or anything else, I will tell you that my great grandmothers birth certificate lists her race as black. My other great grandmother a 4'10" Irish woman went to work in a cotton mill at age 7. She never went to school, never learned to read or write. She retired from that same cotton mill at age 67 and considered herself wealthy. She was one of those "dirty Irish" as they were all called back then. Lower than any African.
When I see all these young people who have never had to struggle or work for anything in their lives, black lives matter, MoveOn.org, white privilege, safe places in college, our incredibly PC environment, accusations of racism, transgender bathrooms, it's really easy, If you have a penis, go the mens, if not go to the womens, if you are inbetween go water the nearest tree. Everyone is so upset, insulted, offended, bullying in schools and so on. I really don't get it. I mean, get a backbone people! Personally, I told my kids to kick butt if anyone picked on them. It helped a bit that there was 5 of them.
Ok, now I'm just rambling, trying to decide whether to delete this on post it. It's Sunday and I have "worked" all day on my day off as did my 12 year old son, without pay. Poor little guy, poor me!
I have to add, it just kills me when I hear people say they are going to leave the country if things don't go their way. REALLY??? Do they even vote? This is our country and they are just going to run away if things don't go their way. GO! I guess if I had run away to Mexico when Obama got elected I might be rich now. I didn't even think about it.
1. What actions of the Obama administration have caused this
2. Detroit.. Well. I think I can confidently speak on this when I say everything is not pretty shut down. The auto companies are hiring again. My 18 year old nephew just was accepted to Electrical Workers Union as a punk. The state government in Michigan is just as much to blame for any hardships there.. Right to work hurts machinists. Huge tax breaks for corporation on the backs of the middle class hurt them. I left Michigan because of the weather and for an adventure, but I still know many there who are hurting (seniors especially) because of the regressive tax plans there.
3. While I cannot relate entirely with the millennial love fest for Sanders, I certainly understand it. Between my wife and I we were $80k in debt starting our careers because of student loans. That is absurd. I have always worked for everything I got and freeloaders drive me bonkers like they do most people I'm sure, but I would rather support 10 freeloaders with my tax money than let 1 family suffer legitimately. Young people see the system as rigged against them, and it is. It always has, but if you think Trump or Sanders or any of these degenerates can fix that, well, I have 100 acres of flat arable land for you on STT.
That didn't answer the question asked.

By the way, if you really look at those videos on TV where they show these protesters, you will see they all are wearing back packs, which I find very much like the Black lives matter movement, the Wall Street sit down movement and just about every other movement. I'd be willing to bet that most of these so called protesters are bought and paid for by the republican establishment, who doesn't want the Donald by hook or crook. By doing these stupid things, they are just ushering him into office. Because one thing about Americans, we do love underdawgs don't we?
mike
I doubt Hillary will be indicted.
The GOP is scared shitless of her and manufactures so much BS.There is still some bad blood between her and Obama. The DOJ just gave immunity to some of her subordinates. I wouldn't be too sure. This election cycle really is the South Park episode where the choices are a Giant Douche or a Turd Sandwich.
I like the South Park analogy.

think about it.
Why do you think Obama has anything to do with your company downsizing? Corporate taxes didn't go up and Obamacare let businesses offload HC burden back on employees.
My guess is you lost market share because some offshore company can make your product for less. Now that is your problem to be competitive in a global market place. You can move your manufacturing offshore too. And why not?
If you dreaming about protective tariffs on your product that is so 18th century.
I have to agree with STTsailor. We own a company that supplies engineering/design services to manufacturing companies. In 2009-2010, we saw our business shrink because of what the Bush Administration did to the economy - however, since then we have seen our staff triple and our revenues go up even more. We even supply a number of companies in the Greenville, SC area - even with the travel, we are still competitive. We have also watched some of our client try to outsource our services (since India pays 1/10th what we do) but time after time, they come back to us, first to fix what was done overseas and finally, to get it right the first time in the future.
We pay above our employees above average and provide FULL benefits to our employees and have seen our health care costs drop by 15% since the ACA has been in effect - so I can call BS to those that say it is bad for business. The employees even gained dental insurance, at no cost to them.
Yes, we have seen a number of our competitors shrink or go out of business but it is directly attributable to their not keeping up with technology and therefore pricing themselves out of the market. Instead of investing in their companies, the bosses chose to keep their compensation at outrageously high levels and they failed to determine what their customers real/changing needs were, again choosing to deliver the same old stuff - a sure recipe for eventual failure.
You want people to take responsibility for their own lives but you seem to want the government to bail you out. Business failures are due to bad decisions by the owners/management, failure to understand the market and/or failure to change as needed.
That is my opinion and experience - take it for what you want.
We tend to get so excited about presidential elections but does the outcome really matter? Republican or democrat in the office we are always in the same boat. Why? Because of the way the business is done in Washington. It does not change. It is all about special interest groups pushing their own agenda. Money gets the elections done and large donors have elects in a their pockets.
It is a right thing to do to provide BASIC and affordable health access to all citizens and Obama did the right thing but the execution of his idea was a total failure. And we can thank American Hospital Association, Big Pharma and and insurance lobby for making it a disaster.
It is a right idea to give access to affordable education to all who want to study. What do we have instead? Run away inflation of tuition. That is why Sanders gains traction with young voters. Can he execute his idea properly? I don't know. Perhaps if we reduce our defense budget we could pay for HC and education. Do we need more students? Probably no. But we need more scholars, enterprenoors and high tech grads. So perhaps it makes sense to support these that excell but face financial obstacles to succeed.
Our government allows formation of Megabanks, mega airlines and mega insurance and others too big to fail organizations essentially monopolizing marketplace. That is our downfall. That is anti market and against capitalis principles.

Anyway, let's not mince words here: when Trump says "Make America Great Again" what he means is "Let's keep minorities marginalized, put homosexuals back in the closet, women back in the kitchen (preferably pregnant), and fat old white guys in charge of the government."
Are there mods on this board? Why is this discussion on a forum about relocation? Should it not be in "Under a Coconut Tree"?

Better Trump than another Clinton or Bush.
Better Clinton than any republican.

You'll never get agreement as to what's BASIC healthcare.

If you want a source of blame on rising tuition costs, blame the school administrators. The dorms are damn near 4 star hotel rooms with matching amenities, administration bloat is increasing exponentially, facilitating the myth that everyone needs to go to college or you are a failure and pretty much providing loans to anyone wanting one have all have pushed up the costs.
The students/parents are just as much to blame. Is there anyone that thinks spending $30-50k a year on ***-Studies is a good financial decision? Being stupid should hurt
I would never pay $30 - 50 thousand a year to send my kid to college. My youngest is at the University of Toronto where annual tuition is $7200 CDN. With the weak Canadian dollar, its costing me about $5500 USD.
As soon as I saw the title of this post, I knew we were going to fly right off the rails!
These are hard core, super left-leaning, liberal, Democrat dominated islands. Obama Care didn't even have a chance here because the vast majority of all ages are already collecting Medicare / Medicaid.
The reality here, is that if the Feds stopped the flow of constant funding to these islands, they'd sink into economic oblivion overnight. Socialism is already alive and well here. It really is a shame.
Margaret Thatcher once said:
"Socialism is a great thing, until you run out of other people's money."
I think that time is closer than anyone wants to admit. If we don't rebuild our industrial base, get back to work and start selling to others again, as opposed to constantly borrowing from them, we're in real trouble long term.
GOP has started wars and left us with huge deficits and recessions.
The ratio is 5 Democrats to 2 Republicans who started wars since World War I:
Our troops and veterans overwhelmingly support Republicans.
Funny how the drive by politic commenters never do much fact checking or research eh?
IMO: sure the left hand slaps harder than the right hand... but who cares, what if you don't want to get slapped at all?
Two party system... Coke or Pepsi.... I'm drinking water.

Downsizing of the military has greatly affected my company.
I continued to pay 100% of my employees cadillac health care plan instead of off loading the burden back on them. The cost of the insurance greatly increased because of new laws mandated by the AFC act. Most of my employees are young men and their premiums went up to match the cost of health care for women in their child bearing years. Before that the cost for young men was much lower.
I didn't lose market share due to any offshore company making my product. China did try a few years ago but their product was so inferior that it could not be used.
I would never move my manufacturing offshore. I would like to see this country reap the benefits of manufacturing and employing Americans. We are very competitive in a global market. Only two companies in the world manufacture this product and ours is superior. Maybe that is shooting myself in the foot but this product is used in critical applications and failure could be catastrophic.
I'm not going to reply to your last comment.
Have a good day.

Thank you for your opinion. I am happy that your business is doing so well.
I would love to know who your insurance carrier is and what kind of plan your company offers. We are in Virginia and our rates have gone up quite a bit.
I have to agree with you that owners who do not invest in their own business are making a mistake. We put all profits back into the business or into giving back to our employees. That is why our business is completely debt free, no loans, or government handouts. It is also why we have been able to stay solvent during this economic down time. Our employees are faithful and hardworking.
Though I don't agree that all business failures are due to "bad" decisions by the owners and management I do know that you need to always be able to adapt to changes in the world and be able to diversify to stay solvent which we are in the process of doing. We have two sister companies fulfilling other niches so when one company is down the other is taking advantage of a different market. My mom always told me not to put all my eggs in one basket. Good advice.
Finally, I don't want the government bail me out and I don't know why you would even make such a comment.
