This is the DAILY OBSERVATION THREAD for info about your micro-climate at any given moment, which could, in theory, be used to compare to other posts if they occur around the same time and day. Please see link below for explanation. Thank you all!

(For more information on the long-term observations as opposed to this thread for daily observations, please see this post: https://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/read.php?4,80799)

PLEASE POST DAILY OBSERVATIONS HERE...

I'm trying to understand why you're so obessed with the weather here, it changes VERY little. Low to mid 80s in the winter and mid to high 80s in the summer. Are you a weather channel addict? I have a few of those in my family. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Well, because I am planning my move and I want to do it right the first time. You are right; the temperature doesn't vary too much. However, some people have lush greenery, while others have cacti. Some need to run dehumidifiers all day where for some it's really dry.

It all depends where you want to live. If you're going to move to STT, I'm sure anyone from there can tell you where the lush end is. On stx its the west half of the island generally speaking (anything near the rainforest will be especially lush), east is almost always drier. Its pretty simple, figure out what you want and someone can tell you which part of the island you want. No need to make up some kind of chart unless you simply enjoy doing that.

I'm not quite sure what I want until I see it in 3D on google earth. if I map out the winds, the humidity, the temps, etc. I can play with the rotating view, check the ephemeral phases of the skies, pinpoint the best spot for sunrise and sunset, along with the best angle for the solar panels, and what time is best view for dinner or angle to installe the pool. It's very complex for me. With all this info, I'll be able to make a working matrix, then rank the areas in order of preference. That way, I know I did my homework. :o)

All I can tell you is the north side of STT is wetter & lusher than the south & east ends.

If you have any time left after the complex matrix theory evolves -- you should factor in the # of and amount of hours you will spend in lines or traffic taking care of the details of daily life in the islands starting from day 1.

Good point on the traffic. We will add a traffic study too! Also, we always incorporate the broadband access and speeds by location, and lots of stuff. Eventually, we find our near perfect place :o)

I really believe you are overthinking this. You need to just come down and check things out for yourself.

Oh, I have been there several times and am coming again in June. It's just one of those things that analytical, anthropologistic, artistic designer, computer programmer, diy home builder, beer drinker, gospel preacher, dreadlock sporter, large family dreamer people do. There's no cure! :o)))))))))))))

That's for sure! I think "passionate" would be the word that most people I know would use to describe how I feel about getting my family out of PA and onto STT!

[just did my wife's dreads 3 weeks ago. i wish my hair were that long. they look so cool.]
