Young couple with kids considering USVI, insight appreciated!
Spartygrad, I think the joy of living here is wearing a little thin for you. Nothing wrong with that, just getting a sense!
Not even remotely. I think I'm just gassy
I've been told nearly every day by people I work with to own a gun where I live now in Fort Pierce FL. I never have owned a gun an more than likely never will. Healthcare wise, guess I hope nothing major ever happens. We live very healthy lifestyle and do not go to doctor at all.
This is also just talk as of now between my wife and I. We hope we enjoy our stay when we vacation there soon.

You're doomed...
Haha thanks

You...and the rest of us 😉

And if something does happen in spite of your "healthy lifestyle"? Are you going to strain our inadequate Medicaid budget even further?
Okay, to reign this in a bit...any homeschoolers out there? It's on our radar but we need to talk to more people who have done/ are doing it.

lots of 'homeschoolers' here, we do it.. lots of online resources for you out there & they aren't even that expensive; plus there's a few groups that get together weekly for social type activities.
Like most things, you kinda have to be here to get to know more & who all is involved.
Maybe my wife will get a huge salary and increase and I can be a stay at home dad. My son deserves an education from the smartest person I know.
Totally irrelevant to thread and OP, sparty.

Good Grief!
Like neither of you EVER go off any frigging topic.
Still awaiting the scolding of others. How long you reckon I can hold my breath?

You do it consistently.
Alana, have I missed your scolding of the others of topic? Or do you just like me that much. I'm feeling kinda special right now
At least have some respect for the poster who is looking for answers and has already asked to get back on topic.
As far as homeschooling goes, there seems to be more parents on STX on this forum that homeschool. However, my niece homeschools her son here on STT and has a group of friends that they interact with that does the same.
Think you need to figure out which island you're most drawn to as each has their differences as well as their similarities.
Happy to post my thoughts on that if interested.

I think I laid out a pretty good answer fairly early in the thread. Now about the scolding of others...
My older son does virtual school. He's done it this year and one other year. I know a handful of kids on St. John who do homeschool, I'd say, with varying degrees of importance put on the quality of education. My older son, having moved back home from FL at the beginning of the year is in FL Virtual School, part of the free K12 program. The free K12 program is not offered here that I know of. He also attended Calvert Virtual Academy in 6th grade. We are looking for other Virtual options for next year.
