vshoppell: sorry, but that is one dumb post!

What sort of job, in what sphere, educational/job experience, requirements/references?

I wouldn't respond in season but since this forum has been a little lethargic of late, I thought I would put in my three cents.

Ah, STT Res - your worth is ever increasing! Thanks for the 3 cent comment - inflation and all! I, too, was wondering about what type job (not that I need another one!) But I might know someone who wants to do...well, whatever it is we're talking about.....

Well, actually, for the number of people that "supposedly" need/want jobs on-island, I have received fewer responses with a detailed response than I have with a vague post like this. I've even gotten 2 resumes already so I defend my post. Responding to an ad that is vague takes initiative and maybe that is one of the qualities I was looking for in this case.

A most peculiar stance to take, vshoppell, and the very best of luck going through those resumes. Be well advised to check the references VERY well!

So I guess we should remain in the dark about this employment opportunity unless we send a resume? Oh well. So much for board networking.

I have hired many people and I know what it takes to hire someone (yes that includes checking references). You posted a "very specific" job description and still got screwed when it came to someone working out. Posting a position on a message board is a crapshoot anyway.

I am looking to move to the Islands very soon. What kind of job is it and what exactly are you looking for in the applicant?

vshoppell: Another poster regurgitated your previous post about a job position, apparently with the intent of advising we misinformed posters that if we had searched your name we would know the field you were talking about which apparently is associated with Physical Therapy?

I'm sorry if you feel that maybe I'm "reacting" but I would think it common sense to at least give SOME indication of the field involved, what's required, etc. for any available employment position. I didn't recognize your posted name, didn't know you had priorly posted and only felt that if you were posting a job position you should probably give at least SOME details.

Your comment, "You posted a "very specific" job description and still got screwed when it came to someone working out. Posting a position on a message board is a crapshoot anyway," is a no-brainer. I would prefer to use the word, "disappointed" rather than "screwed" but, as I said when I reposted the job, there's a first time for everything and I've elongated this train of thought in an update on my original post.

Posting a position on a message board is indeed a crapshoot but I gained two incredibly good people through this board, both of whom did a wonderful job. Teresa, a regular poster here, had to quit because of family issues (and she's well-documented her living experiences here in numerous posts on this forum) and Victoria found that island living just wasn't for her but she was likewise outstanding.

This board thus far, unless Islander gets really pissed off (!) is a wonderful source of information and, thus far, Islander has allowed those of us with available employment positions to post them at no charge and as a part of thi forum.

Just my point of view, dear heart, and of course I wish you well!
