Work Permits needed?
I'm moving to St. Thomas in the fall and was wondering if you need work permits to be on the islands if you are a U.S. citizen? I recently was living in the Cayman Islands and that is Brittish rule and they even needed them to be there. Would someone please enlighten me? I'd hate to go through all of that hoop-la again. Thanx
Roseanna
If you are a US citizen - American, then you do not need any special documents or work permits to reside and or work in the United States Virgin Islands. We are under American rule, American citizens and are subject to federal work laws and taxes as the US mainland does.
If you are traveling to the British Virgin Islands or any of the other islands in the Caribbean the situation is different as the islands are ruled in some cases independently and in others under the British, French, Dutch flag. But for US Virgin Islands as an American territory you will be fine.
THANK YOU!
I really appreciate you taking your time to answer all of my questions. You have been great help.
Thanx again Roseanna
