Wireless internet STX
Good afternoon islanders,
I appreciate all of your feed back and comments on island living that I have read on the board. I am trying to take care of as many things as possible before I move to St Croix in September. I am using AT&T for cell phone and I understanding that there coverage on the island is good. I am trying to get wireless internet service set up on the island. Unfortunately AT&T does not have reasonable service or cost for wireless broadband. Their hot spot service is $50 per month for 5g and $10 per g after that per month. I need unlimited usage. I am not a techie (no smart phone) but I need good internet coverage at home and prefer wireless with reasonable speeds. What are the best options on the island as to coverage and speeds? Thanks for any assistance as always.
Definitely Broadband VI.
BBVI
Good day and thanks for the info.
Does anyone on the island have any experience with Choice Greenpacket 4G modem?
Search these forums for people's experiences with Choice. Many of us recommend Broadband VI not so much out of loyalty, but as a result of our (generally horrible) experiences with Choice and the other providers, such as they are.
Thanks for the feedback still checking options
I have been using Choice with that Greenpacket modem for the past few months, and it's working for me. I had tried Choice several years ago and found the service to be horrible. Now, they were my best option, because I am off island more than I am on...I pay for a month at a time, and when I am not there I just don't pay. Then when I am returning I call and make a payment, which covers the next 30 days, and then when I leave I let it lapse again...and the modem was free on a special and no installation cost...so Price/service is right for me, right now. My speed test right now says 2.48 up, .98 down, ping is 138. At times alot slower, occasionally faster. Not great but I can deal with it.
