wine allowance
How much wine are you allowed to carry in the USVI's? I think it is 1 liter per adult, but I am not sure. As wine is so expensive, it might be worth trying to sneak in extra bottle or 2. Also, I guess these need to be checked in luggage these days and can't be carried on?...thanks for any help or war stories.
edited to correct typo
I don't find wine costs much more in the USVI. I'm from California and I carried a case two years ago in my luggage and no one said anything. This was for a house warming party and these were special bottles. Weight is the real issue with wine in your luggage. I drink rum its what the islands are about.

You can bring wine here to the VI - but wine prices are fairly comparable and if you are needing a lot you can easily buy wholesale here.
Thanks! I need to find out where you buy wine. A bottle of Silver Oak Cab costs $60 in CA and $130 here. I guess alot has to do with the reefer shipping costs from california. I only drink that price point once in a blue moon or for a special friend/ocassion, but still, if I can pack an extra bottle or 2 ona trip, I can save some good money.
exit zero....where do you buy wholesale easily on STT? That would be good to know.
All of the big distributors have a sales office for smaller purchases - 1-10 case lots or so.
I think you need to have the appropriate license to buy alcohol wholesale.
I have purchased cases of wine from almost all the major importers on STT over the years with nothing more than a Good Morning and a check.
I know we're talking STT but on STX you can buy case wine at Premier across from Schooner Bay market. We get the organic Red Truck there
who are the major importers on STT? I guess one is Premier over in Bovoni.....others?
Bellows - West Indies Corp. - Premier - there is also the wine store in the Marina Market parking lot - generally a good 10-25% off at Gourmet Gallery on case purchases too - there was a wine merchant that was importing from ST Martin quarterly [if I can find his website] - I don't hesitate to ask for a case discount at AH Riise --- and Cost-u-less might do it as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Randy offered a case discount either but have not bought a case there.
West Indies can get you pretty much anything you need. Wine on STT is not much more expensive than stateside, but prices on STJ are stupidly high (yeah, yeah, along with everything else over here). *-)
