I heard the statement on TV about ABC not renewing with their longtime broadcaster. Anyone hear where we can watch on Dish?

AMC is negotiating fee increases, and may go dark on small Cable TV operators like Innovative:

AMC will continue on Dish Network.
ABC is not involved.

The posted message by @wooh is legit. Local Channel 8 indicated via its news program that as of January 1st they are no longer affiliated with ABC therefore ABC programming is no longer available to DISH or Innovative customers. I contacted DISH and they indicated that they are aware of the issue but have no indication when an ABC channel will be back on. They referred me to ABC Go on the internet as an alternative, but of course ABC Go is not available in our market.

Looks like ABC is not on at least today.
No Michigan / Florida game for us.

Once all we had was ABC and that was at least a day late.....life went on.....We had Innovative....then DISH.....then All American Direct on DISH.....then lost that, but got local-to-local on DISH again.....then lost HD on NBC.....now lost ABC (again).....
If, after watching Michigan State get slaughtered last night (VERY sad), I had not been able to watch the Michigan game (a poor second) I would have been suicidal.....so we now have the Sling and two different internet sources (BBVI and Karma Go) as backup.

I think most ABC sports programming can be found on ESPN's online platform which requires authenticating a valid TV provider account (Dish, Directv). ABCGo would probably require hiding one's local IP via proxy, as I have to do with HBOGO.

Channel 8 WSVI located on St Croix is no longer an ABC affiliate.
For your favorite ABC shows check on HULU.
This affects Innovative and Dish customers as well as OTA. (over the air)
My bet is Dish will have a replacement before Innovative but I could be wrong. Probably another Puerto Rico channel soon come.....

The reception was crappy anyway - horrible picture and horrible sound. Gave up on it long ago!

Other than local "news" I don't think it will be missed by many when an HD Puerto Rico feed replaces it.

Just my two cents but channel 8 should have been dropped by ABC long ago. They were always upcutting their programming and commercials. I think it finally came to ABC's attention. The whole operation is outdated and poorly run.

I've tried to watch the local news and got so frustrated with their broadcasting, with dropped sounds, jiggling camera movement and going dark with unintelligible words that I quit watching awhile back.
I did like Wes Smalls.
I wish DISHTV gave us Channel 2 STT local news.

Most high schools have better news productions. But I still liked to watch the local stuff on occasion - the pageants, and school productions, etc. I miss Wes. Not that he could be ever be confused with a journalist. I considered him to be the VI version of Les Nessman. But he sure made me laugh.

Who is this WCVI I've heard about taking over the ABC feed? They say they're based in Christiansted, but I don't know anyone whose heard of them.

Good news!
ABC has been picked up by the same company that delivers our CBS. We've heard from both Dish and a representative for the new channel. Should happen very soon and will be an HD feed.
