Why people in the VI are suspicious of newcomers
Well, I never liked the scar on the hillside. I was always suspicious that palms were greased. Why this is in a Sarasota court, I don't understand. But this is why off-islanders are always suspect: http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2011/04/27/failed-vi-condo-project-now-matter-florida-court
Hey EE -
The VI is one of many places where David Band has wreaked havoc. The current issue in the Sarasota court is explained on pages 8-9:

and Paul Golden and Golden Gaming
and the Annaly resort
and the Gallows Bay yacht marina
and the Salt River / Judiths Fancy hotel
and the 12-15 failed planned neighborhoods around the territory
(just realized.....this might be a very long thread)
(alas, I'm still holding out hope for Robins Bay and William & Punch resorts on STX)
Wow, the herald tribune article was a good read. What ever happened to Sirenusa on St. John? That's an eyesore. It reminds me of an old greek buildings, like the one that you would see in an ancient greek god movie, when looking at it from the sea.. Why were they ever approved to build such a monster on a tiny island? Why not follow the logic of Caneel Bay Resort? We can blame the investors but we must first hold our senators and government appointed officials accountable for the crap that they allow to be built on these islands. I can go on and on.
It should be pointed out that the legislature piss themselves to woo scumbags like Golden and Stanford and so on, while they stonewall many, many honest businesses.

Exactly! Honest businessmen won't play the games demanded of them by our legislature. So we end up with all the aformentioned crooks who are unethical enough to play ball.
