I am a 21 yr. old recent graduate of University of Georgia. I plan to move down there soon and am going this weekend for my PMV. I am moving down there for an udecided amount of time. My main goal of moving there is to learn about the islands and meet some amazing people. I am set on STJ right now but would like to know what the main difference between STJ and STX is. Which one is safer? Which one has more young ppl like me looking to have fun.Employment is not a main issue in my decision. Any input would be really appreciated and the other posts have been so helpful.

Hello Ashley,

The main diffence: St. John is small (20 square miles) has a population of 4,197 and St. Croix is the largest of the USVI islands (84 square miles) and a population of 53,234. (Census info. from 2000) This fact affects a lot of things about each island; transporation, community, meeting people, gossip, networking, crime (which is less on St. John), availability of apartments and jobs, grocery stores and prices etc. etc.

I think its great that you are taking a Pre-Move Visit. Based on your observations you will be able to best decide which island appeals to you.
