If you're talking general location, if you look in the front of the phone book there's a map showing where the different estates are located.

Yes, but I don't know which part of the island that is from the description. East End? North? etc.

Sort of east end. When people talk about the "east end" they normally mean Red Hook. Nadir, if I am correct, runs from about Bovoni to almost Red Hook - well, to Fish Hawk area. If I am right then it cover a lot of the "bad" areas - cock fights, interesting bars - to some of the quiet residential areas. I would not feel comfortable in the bad areas and a just a little uncomfortable in the quiet areas.

Who are planning on renting from and where in Nadir is it? Might be better able to help if we knew. Wish I could be more help.

Rub: In your other thread, you said that you didn't want to move somewhere and then find out it was in a sketchy area. This is why we (well, most of us anyway 😉 ) always say: DO NOT RENT ANYTHING SIGHT UNSEEN. Addresses mean almost nothing. When you get here, get a place for short term and go check it out. I promise you, you will want to do this.

Very good advice. The problem is that from the pictures, it's a very nice place and the price is right, but the owner is in South Africa right now and can't really show it anyways.

Hey Rub,
I manage property in NYC. Two times people happened to get my contact info from a tenant when they went to check out a 3 bedroom, 3 bath apt. they saw on Craig's List for $1000/mo. The "owner" told them via email to send him first month & security ($2000) in London, England and he'd send them the keys. The apt. was vacant, but not legitimately listed on Craig's list. Real rent was closer to $7000/mo. Those people, had they not spoken with me, would have lost their money. I have no idea if anyone else fell victim to this particular scam, but it is all too common. Listen to East Ender! If it sounds too good to be true...

Hello RubiconShoe,
I arrived on the island last Wednesday. Like you I almost rented over the internet. I am so glad, I did not. I found a place for a month that is clean and nice, everything you need in a temporary home. I rented at the 2 Sandals by the Sea Inn In Red Hook. They have a very reasonable rate for a month. I must have responded to the same ad while still stateside. They not only wanted the money sent up front they also wanted personal information as well. I can't swear it was a scam, but...
Everyone is RIGHT find a temporary place. To everyone that gave me advice Thank You. I love it already.
Amy

Hi Andy,
i hope your interview went well and you moved. Did you ever heard more about this rental? Was it a scam? I am looking to move and have been contacted by Joey Duncan.
I would appreciate your help.
Thank
