Where to move in USVI
My partner, two puppies and I are moving in March. We are conflicted on which Island to move to. At first, Ct. Croix was the final decision but after reading about all of the islands, I just cant seem to pick. We like solitude and beautiful beaches, the idea of a grocery store or hardware store sounds good too. lol Suggestions please!

Here is a (very) crude comparison, to give you an idea. To refine it, you have to come to visit all three islands.
STT = New York City
STX = Upstate New York
STJ = The Hamptons
Wanderer = BS

OMG!! A wanderer sighting!!!
That helps a lot. Lol thanks.
STT is like New York City, but without all the stuff.

Nonsense. Yet another who's never been outside Charlotte Amalie or the main drag in general!

It was joke, like "This weather is like a hurricane, but without all the wind and rain."

Accepted! But it's no end irritating to keep hearing similar comments NOT made in jest, so one gets a little testy! 😀
monogram - hilarious
Moving back to OP's question.
STT will offer a better opportunity for jobs, things to do, access to nearby STJ, Jost Van Duke, Tortola, Virgin Gorda in the BVI and surrounding offshore cays and islands. There's lots of sailing and diving. Good luck.

But then you don't have any money 'cause on STT it jumps out of your pocket fast. And when you do have money, your friend's boat won't start. BTW it's always better to use someone else's boat (OPB=Other people's boats).
It jumps out of your pocket just as fast on STX with less opportunities to earn it.

Yes, there is something about dem STT friends who appear to be incompetent in operating their boats. It's either their gas tank is empty, or they forget to open the tank air vent, or the fuel line is pinched. That's why Crucians are better friends than St Thomians..
... cause on STT it jumps out of your pocket fast.
Huh? :S

Hmmm from my experience STT has many more temptations to lose your cash fast. Not referring to the cost of living here.

What sort of experience and what "many more temptations"? Curious.
STT's much more active bar scene=much more money spent for those inclined to imbibe.
That's not a bad thing - just a consideration.

There's a lot more to do than drink at bars. People are going to drink at bars if that's their proclivity, whether here or there or anywhere.
But, at least, people feel safe enough to go out at night and have a drink, if they do choose.
I can assure you that the people I know that own their own boats, whether power or sail, all maintain them very well.
Maybe it's just your caliber of friends that have this issue.
It's a daft generalization anyway to equate the number of drinking establishments in an area with how quickly cash leaves your pocket. If everybody who lived in Vegas gambled ...
"We like solitude and beautiful beaches, the idea of a grocery store or hardware store sounds good too." You can find all of these on the three main islands (not Water Island). A pre-move visit to the three isn't too much of a stretch. You have to fly between STX and STT but STT and STJ are separated by an easy, quick ferry ride. If you can, spend a week on STX and a week on STT and see which best suits you. Good luck!

Exactly right. Whenever my friend's boat fails to start, I declare the end of the friendship right there, and go find another, better caliber friend. By trial and error, you can eliminate the .22 caliber friends, and have a small trusted circle of the .45 caliber friends. Even better, before you befriend someone, inspect his/her boat!
Thank you so much. I'll do just that.
You all are so funny. Even well maintained boats in the tropical sun and salt fail to start, well quite often actually. Better to conk out at the dock than in the Pillsbury Sound I say.
Alana, I believe you and I have a number of the same friends BTW .....
