Where to buy large screen tv?
Would appreciate recommendation on best place to buy 65" plus size tv.
When we wanted to buy a large screen TV, we checked local stores but ended up buying it from Amazon. We had it shipped to VI Cargo and it arrived just fine. The overall price and selection was much better online.
got mine from Kmart (sears)
KMart or CostULess.

Just don't be in a hurry to get it from best buy. I tried setting up a TV order to see what it would do, delivery 12/9 to stateside address, 1/14 to VI. But it still says free shipping to VI so seems like a good deal if it's real if you cant wait. They will only ship best buy items to VI, not marketplace.
Kmart Sears has a 58 inch LCD for under $800. Saw it today.
PriceSmart usually has display of large screen TV's.
-- store on St. Thomas
That is a bit long. But free shipping could be worth it
Just called best buy and confirmed the free shipping to USVI is correct. They ship UPS and said there was not duty either. I'm a little suspicious of that. Perhaps UPS collects duty without best buy's involvement. Maybe I'll try calling UPS to see what they have to say about it.
BTW-best buy web site specifically says they will not ship to a freight forwarder.
Thanks for that info about freight forwarders
BTW-best buy web site specifically says they will not ship to a freight forwarder.
That was my experience a couple of years ago. I placed an order to ship to Paradise Freight, and Best Buy cancelled it 8 minutes later. To get around it, contact Paradise Freight for an alternate address (which shall not be posted here, otherwise Best Buy might ban that address too).
If TV is not American made and shipped UPS, it's likely that you'll have to pay a customs duty...and arrival time delayed by Customs.
If TV is not American made...
That would be funny if it wasn't so sad. No TV has been made in America in years.
Called UPS. They explained they ship and can also act as customs broker. Shipper (best buy) has to specify whether they want UPS to be customs broker. Shipper also has to specify if UPS broker should bill duty to shipper or collect on delivery.
Called best buy again. Talked to an inexperienced rep looking through his documentation. He confirms the free shipping again and says the policy he's looking at says best buy would pay the duty if any. I'll believe that when I see it. Also says estimated delivery date is to shipping address which means after clearing customs.
Ordered a TV, estimated delivery to VI on 1/15. Also tried to order a wall mount bracket but after putting in shipping address web site says can't ship the wall mount to VI. I guess that extra 2Kg was just to much. Same message for a different bracket.
is the bracket coming from best buy or one of its affiliates?
I think you'll find that the brackets are readily available here.
Mikes Electronics across parking lot from Cost U Less on STX,
very good pricing and good customer service
Bought several TVs over the years.
is the bracket coming from best buy or one of its affiliates?
Would have been from best buy. They won't ship anything from marketplace to VI.
I think you'll find that the brackets are readily available here.
Probably, but not at Home Depot according to their web site.
How much for 32-50" non-tilt?
Best Buy definitely ships here for free. I buy plenty of items from them. It is sent through UPS Innovations, but transferred to USPS along the way. I have never had to pay additional fees through them.
Be patient though...I think items go on a v e r y s l o w ship. It sometimes takes a month to receive things.
You can find brackets at both Kmart West and Kmart -Sunny Isles. Also the Kmart Appliance Center (Sears) TV's are usually cheaper than both of the other Kmarts.
Also check Amazon or Walmart for brackets.
Kmart web site has a basic bracket for triple the price that can be had elsewhere. Is the Sears appliance center done renovating and open? Their website still disavows any knowledge of their existence. Maybe I'll check the Ace hardware.
The appliance site never closed.
