Given the state of infrastructure I think it a legitimate question?

V.I. Businesses Generated $19.5 Billion in Sales in 2007
By Source Staff

July 21, 2009 — Businesses on the Virgin Islands generated $19.5 billion in sales and employed 35,300 people with $1.1 billion in annual payroll, in 2007, according to a survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The bureau's Economic Census of Island Areas is conducted every five years and analyzes the economies of the U.S.V.I., Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Northern Marianas Islands, all territories of the U.S. The economic census profiles the territory as a whole, and the three islands – St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas – individually for businesses with paid employees. The 2007 Economic Census included the petroleum refinery industry, which was excluded in the 2002 Economic Census.

Do you need to ask that question?

This is a SMALL town in the main land. WE HAVE A GOVERNOR OF 115,000 people. 1150,000 people!!! We have over 13% of the people employed by the government. Another 10% sucking on the governments tit. We have vehicles being used for personal needs. And there is the little matter of giving out jobs to relatives.

And on and on it goes.

Now do you really want to ask that question?

stealing.........task forces.......suv's............trips............dining out.................clothes..............and my favorite "tips".
When the last governors race was going on, I know a very well off person who all the candidates were romancing & heard with my own ears
"I will introduce you to (fill in a candidate's name.....hint not our current gov) for a tip"
When the well off person asked "tip"?..........the other person laughed and said yes a tip............Continentals call them bribes, but here we like to call them tips..........:-X

The legislature talks about efficiency and economy but then the just vote to spend. DeJonge doesn't want to lay off people or eliminate the duplication of services because he wants to be re-elected. Those govt employees are a huge part of the electorate. And what about the nearly 1 million the gov spent on his private residence in STT when the VI has a couple of empty governors mansions gathering dust.

Every other govt. in the word is adjusting to the economy but the VI borrows and mortgages our future. million here a million there soon it adds up to real money .

We'd be cut off if we didn't pay a $200 WAPA bill let alone almost $8.5 million! WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS in higher WAPA bills for each citizen.
