Howdy!,
Thanks for all the wonderful and helpful advice on this board. My wife and I are planning our move for June 2006. I've been reading these posts for some time now and I haven't seen this subject brought up. We have two busy, always on the go, very active boys ages 5 and 8. We worry that there won't be enough to keep them occupied. The beach is wonderful but what other activities do some of the parents on this board have their children involved in? Also how was the adjustment for your kids? Was it quick or did they have trouble acclimating to it all?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

P.S.
Will be making a visit in a couple of months to look at some real estate would love to get together with some of you...

Hello,

I have an 8, 6, and 1 year old. When I first moved here (STT) I posted that there wasn't as much for kids to do here. Well, I was wrong. We have been involved in Boy Scouts, soccer, Carnival children's parade (a whole parade for kids! - the next day was the main Carnival parade), boating with the kids, jet skis, kayaking, hiking, basketball, of course the beach, snorkeling, swimming, sightseeing (they love standing on a lookout saying, "I can see my house from here"), water park (salt water - water park, but very fun near the airport - you pay by the half hour), finding iguanas in the trees, riding bikes, etc.

Many churches and private schools have advertised events for kids - for example we went to Spiderman and Dora the Explorer in Paradise. During Carnival they have rides and booths (like state and local fairs in the states) for the kids.

My kids went to public school and have adjusted quickly. They have had invites to birthday parties and made friends. The movie theater also shows most newly released 'kid' movies.

So overall, the kids really haven't missed the states much at all. They do miss their grandparents, but we have them down to visit and spoil the kids.

Good luck with your visit and move!

Teresa
