What is going on in Christiansted right NOW ?? Emergency??

I heard 'em too. Thought it was strange. Since when do we have access to that many vehicles with operational sirens?

Lots of building alarms going off in downtown C'sted last night, too. At least three times. LOUD and coming from the waterfront.

is it still going on? i am incredibly nervous about how the news of the refinery's shutdown is going to affect safety here, so i can't help but wonder if there is a link.

They finally have stopped, but a lot of them went thru for probably a good hour or so.
Police, Rescue, marked, unmarked.....
Still no idea what happened??!!

I just heard news on the radio that it was Bob Johnson that was murdered in his home in Boetzberg.

I had heard he was with Farchette and Hanley Realty.

Bob was my next door neighbor for ten years. He had lived on the island for decades. He was at one time a prominent realtor on the island before retiring. He was a great neighbor, a good friend and truly a godsend when I needed a hand or a shoulder. I am stunned.

Bob was one of the great cheerleaders for STX and has been here for 50 years. He came here as a Navy officer and then moved here after the Navy. We met him a couple of years ago when we purchased a good friends of his home.

It is a travesty and whoever is responsible should be hung! The sad fact is that they will never be found by our Keystone cops.

Rumor mill tells me he was found by his housekeeper tied to a chair and killed. Personal vendetta? Why tie someone up if you're going to kill them anyway? Doesn't sound like a run of the mill smash and grab.

sorta reminds me of the phone threat posted, where the caller specifically threatened to tie the OP in a chair and beat him until he was dead. I hope the two are not related.

What a terrible thing. There's a picture of Mr. Johnson on the back of his book if you go on the Amazon website that Rotorhead posted.

This is terrible. All we can do is hope that the perpertrators are rapidly captured, proscecuted, and jailed (or otherwise disposed off).

I checked Mr. Johnson's phone number in the directory and it is not even close to the number which the threats where phoned in.

i would see him down town all the time in the pentheny court yard having lunch.

I have no clue. I'm just still stunned. I left STX in '08 but it was such a beautiful place to live and Bob was such a wonderful neighbor. What a tragedy. I hope they catch the lunatic(s) that did this. Not keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Tied to a chair/restraint = looking for information.Holding some elderly person up physically would take some effort.Put them in a chair and start interrogating them for all their financials,etc..Really bad dudes IMO..This doesn't look good for those who are known and other easy marks.Better keep that gun close and door locked up.:-(
