what do you think about this guy?
kenny chesney has a place somewhere I believe in the bvi, but has anyone ever seen him in usvi? is he a nice guy, or what? I like some of his music and was wondering, is he true to the music he sings? mainly the island tunes. what's your opinion? the good, the bad, the ugly! im just curious!
I dont live in the virgin islands. yet :). But I am a HUGE Kenny fan and I know he visits pretty frequently. He has a bunch of picture on his website and facebook of him down in the virgin islands and I have seen picture of him with fans at some of the island bars. He has a house in St. John, but I think he sold it or is selling it. He has filmed a few of his videos down there. I know No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problem was filmed in Jost Van Dyke. I also just read an article the other day where he said he takes his entire band, wives, girlfriends, etc to the virgin islands for a week every year after their tour ends.
All I know is I hope I run into him sometime when I move there!
the album, a place in the sun., is what keeps me motivated. I have always been drawn to the ocean!!
My sis played the stj album one vacation non stop, now when I hear anything by him I want to hurt someone.... Feel the same way about Jimmy Buffet and Steel Pan Music, anything that gets played over and over in a resort. Pretty sure they could use it as torture.
Generally, islanders respect privacy by pretty much ignoring any celebrities who live here. With exceptions of course!!
@Linda- I know how you feel! I will be moving to STX next year from Nashville, TN. I have lived here 10 years and I don't even know what any of them look like nor do I care. (well not totally true. Taylor Swift petted my dog on a trail in Percy Warner park. Only noticed her because she was touching my dog who is like my child to me. She is really nice, BTW.) That's just a Nashville attitude for ya! I wait tables and and I am a licensed cosmetologist and all I care about is do they tip well and treat people right. If they don't, this town is small enough that servers/ hairdressers will already probably know about it and they will talk about said celebrity all over town. (even an eye roll gets the point across and we are southern- word gets around here fast- just like eye rolls!) I usually don't find out who someone is until they hand me their credit card or unless someone tells me halfway thru dinner. (this does not apply to my salon business BTW! Totally different but they better tip decent.) 😉
Most of the celebs tip well and treat us right because they have to work here and live here at least for a short while. This is the LAST place you want a bad reputation if you are in country music. Just ask John Rich and the people who live on Love Circle that no longer have a view of the city because of his trashy/ tacky house. He cost them thousands upon thousands of dollars in property values by completely obstructing their views. And he was a complete a$$ about it all. Zero compensation for them. Even tried to have laws changed so no one could build a bigger house than his. I live right by his house and we all cuss him everyday. 😀
And don't worry- I respect people who are fans of celebs, I'm just not really a fan of anybody, so they're just people to me. 😉
