from our trip last year:
the beaches - i love how you walk to any beach and it is just absolutely beautiful.
the people - super nice to help out a tourist, and to answer questions about prospective jobs when we move there
the food - enough said.
rum drinks:-)
people are patient, laid back - unlike here where i live where people are pissed off at waiting at taco bell for 20 minutes and drive like maniacs cutting people off right and left just to be ahead by one car.
colorful buildings
iguanas
geckos
sunsets
rain
snorkeling
sea turtles
coconuts
island hopping.
hiking trails in st. john.
no big, chain stores/markets/coffeeshops
we will be making our way down to the USVI starting in December, sailing from California. Can't wait.

Wow that is a big undertaking. Good luck.
I love:
Clean hurricane swells lighting up all the spots
When I see the blue, I don't have a worry in the world. I feel like I can breathe. A constant reminder of why I am here and why I remain.
I love the hiking... the ruins represent a sad past but they are beautiful:
I also love the sunsets:
I also love the food, Goat water, roti, bullfoot soup, fungi pates... all good stuff!
The breathtaking views, beautiful flowers, colorful fish, & the most beautiful blue water I have ever seen8-)
Every day I get to see the Caribbean Sea....beat that!
Bumping this up!
Lately I'm loving all the mangoes! Also our papaya trees are stocked!
Getting enough rain to keep things green. Got some weather coming through this weekend. Should be good for some surfing an kiteboarding!
Loving the community! My son went to bush skills camp with Montessori and Mount Victory Camp. He had a blast! Made a bow and arrow from bamboo, learned how to start his own fire, learned about the bush and move stealthy through it! Awesome program. After that was sailing camp.
Can't forget about the free Tae Kwon Doe classes with Senator Positive Nelson. One of the only Senators I know that does something for the community especially the youths. My son is now a yellow belt!
The people and sooo much more.
A friend recently passed and will be buried today. The North Shore STX community really pulls together!!
sooooooo missing all of the things mentioned on what to love about the VI as I am off island. What a nice refreshing subject to read this morning, thanks! Can't wait to be back. To Alana and all who knew the deceased friend, my condolences
Thanks crazyinca.
I love the vibrant color of flamboyant trees in bloom and the green parakeets that hide so effortlessly amongst their green leaves.
Lost a horse last night and it ran around the west end all night; this morning someone spotted it and we drove out, asked a few random people and a nice gentleman helped us find it almost right away.
Love the community!
Mmmmmmmm mangoes:-)(tu)
I love seeing the ocean every day.
The weather.
Sitting in the ocean looking for seaglass, makes me feel like a kid again
Love the many spectacular rainbows and the sounds of rain on the roof filling my cistern
I love the way the islands smell. The sea, the flowers, a hint of decomposing vegetation, something spicy cooking in the distance.
I love the shear randomness of what you will find while shopping. I'm being completely serious. Just today, I was looking for Krab meat.. couldn't find it but found regular crab meat and my wife randomly found japanese smoked river eel, which is her absolute favorite. Yeah it cost my $26, but happy wife, happy life. I will probably never see it again. I love it

That screaming magenta bougainvillea
the little yellow/purple fishies
Iguanas on my beach all "whut up?"
Island time
the utter warmth of the people
the smell after it rains
skinny dipping at night under the stars
taking my morning coffee out to the beach
Some good ones Pammerjo
As many problems as we have here with politics, I had a moment of appreciation the other day. Was in the Home Depot parking lot and saw one of our senators and he greets me with a big smile and goes:
" Hey Mattchew wha going on? Good to see you."
Gotta love that small community vibe.
What do I love about the Virgin Islands?
Not living there anymore.
Why did you leave?
Work transfer that I put in for. Was there for 6 years and the only reason I still pay attention to what happens there is because I still own property there, hopefully not for long....
Know what I love about isl3985?
It's a unique user name I'll easily remember, and that makes avoiding anything they post in the future very easy for me.
