Vitacost will ship chocolate. They just advise that it is heat sensitive and best to ship overnight. 9 times out of 10 it arrives just fine.

I can see anything chocolate not shipping, it's likely to melt.

I might check them out, thanks Exit!

I have ordered many times from D'Amico Coffee Roasters in my old neighborhood in Carroll Gardens, Bklyn. They roast the absolute BEST coffee in the world, hands down. I might go back to ordering from them. It would have been cheaper to order some Gevalia with free shipping at Target, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

I have had my coffee shipped down expediently for many years.
Great coffee and superior customer service!

Yep, I've had decent luck ordering chocolate through Vitacost in the winter -- not so much in the summer.

Macys shipped a Keurig to our condo. It was a good sale so my wife grabbed it. They charged $10 to ship to our rental manager's office but couldn't verify the address. After my wife called Macy's and got that fixed they shipped for free.

Anyone have any option for getting applegate meats and cheese here? It’s the only stuff we eat at this point but at $13 for 10 slices of turkey, pretty steep! Bacon is $25 for pound and half but can’t fond it often. I’d do a $300 order of I could find a shipper.

Thanks for the heads up! Just made a couple of orders myself. One for school supplies for the teachers at JESS and one for home. A few things wouldn't ship (dry erase marker value pack, a blanket) but I was able to find similar items that were the same brands that would. Even got Hanes underwear to ship for my little guy. I've never been able to get Hanes anything shipped from Walmart for some unknown reason. Thanks again! I was so happy to make the donated funds for the school stretch even further 🙂

Hello All,

I just wanted to let you know that our site www.supplyvi.com has just been launched. A few things to note:

1. We are Virgin Islanders who have relocated to South Florida, so we know ALL of the issues.
2. Our product mix will be tailored based on user feedback (Write to us!).
3. Our pricing will also get better as we move this project along.
4. Our default shipping method is USPS.
5. We can also consolidate orders (we'll start with pallets).
6. We can deliver to VI Cargo/Paradise Freight/Tropical etc...
7. We can provide special services to businesses (HazMat declarations, sourcing, be your agent, etc.)

We are looking forward to engaging with you and becoming a trusted supplier.

And yes, we do have suppliers for pet foods and toys, vitamins and many other categories of items. Our decision to move in that direction will come as a result of interest from and interaction with you.

In the meantime, we have just under 17,000 products (mostly electronics) on our site as a start.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Your friends at www.supplyvi.com

Also check us out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Hope to hear from you soon!

A quick price check on your Samsung 883 DCT Series MZ-7LH1T9NE 1.92TB SATA was $665 on Amazon versus your price of $703.

Other than price, what other compelling reasons are there to buy from you?

I just bought a Sony 7.1 audio video receiver from Amazon and they are shipping right to my door on STX by USPS.

Just sayin'

I think the value is self-evident. You certainly have a choice, and Amazon is a great one, but you will not be able to easily receive every product you purchase through Amazon, especially not through USPS.

As soon as you happen to purchase from an Amazon seller that thinks the Virgin Islands belong to Portugal, you will have your first experience with how frustrating this can be.

As a Virgin Islander myself, I happen to know what it feels like when you spend more to ship an item than the value of the item itself (because you NEED it and have no other choice), and then get the double whammy when the UPS or Fedex guy hands you a customs duty bill and/or requires additional documentation to release the package to you.

That's just for starters. I had these and many other experiences as an individual and business owner in the VI. I would've been very glad to have someone on the other side that understood all of this and that I could communicate with on sourcing products to get them to the VI consistently (even if it cost me a little more).

...but you will not be able to easily receive every product you purchase through Amazon, especially not through USPS. Not every product but "most" these days.

As soon as you happen to purchase from an Amazon seller that thinks the Virgin Islands belong to Portugal, you will have your first experience with how frustrating this can be. This has never once happened in 15 years.

...and then get the double whammy when the UPS or Fedex guy hands you a customs duty bill and/or requires additional documentation to release the package to you. Its easy to alter invoices and send them to freight forwarders. People do it all the time.

...as an individual and business owner in the VI. I'm a business owner too.

I would've been very glad to have someone on the other side that understood all of this its not complicated!

...that I could communicate with on sourcing products to get them to the VI consistently (even if it cost me a little more) So, let me see if I understand this. I should pay you a little more for the product than I could get it elsewhere so I can pay you a little more to ship it?

Hmmmm. I guess some people might see value in that.

I just see a middleman skimming a few points off a transaction.

Good luck too you.

@CaribSTX: "I just see a middleman skimming a few points off a transaction?"

Perhaps what we are doing is misunderstood - we are a bona-fide business that purchases items at wholesale and retails them to our customers, just like any normal, ordinary business does.

We are not inserting ourselves in between an Amazon or any other company's transaction.

What we offer our customers is the ability to interact directly with us to influence product selction, fair pricing and the peace of mind that comes with having a reliable Virgin Islander that fully understands the logistics of getting items to the islands. You can talk to us directly and we can help you.

Last year, we were able to help many Virgin Islanders that reached out to us and needed supplies after the hurricane. As a result, we were able to send a few CONTAINERS to the VI with much needed supplies including generators, batteries, food, baby products, building supplies and much more.

It is unfair to characterize us as "middlemen seeking to skim a few points off a transaction."

Fair enough. But, it's no longer difficult nor complicated to ship anything to the VI.

I might be interested in a service where I could ship stuff that I CAN'T get sent through the mail to you so it can be shipped via USPS as an excise tax avoidance strategy.

But, I'm not sure if it would be even worth it since you'd still have to charge a handling fee and postage.

BIR hasn't had staff in the post offices since Maria checking shipments so its not an issue now but I'm sure they'll be back in there at some point when money gets tight again.

Its probably easier to alter invoices on shipments that attract excise and send it to the freight forwarder as usual.

Wow.

I've got to say it really doesn't sit well with me about a lack of ethical standards.

I just started getting my Walmart orders. Mixed bag with shipping. Some went FexEx Smart Post, som USPS Priority Mail. The packaging has been crazy. I had a box that had a single can of vegetarian chili in it. That's all that was in there. Another box that is big enough for my 7 year old to comfortably fit in (he's super excited about the box by the way) that was 95% packaging pillows, 5% product. Another box with one box of boxed potatoes in it. They are going to shut down free shipping fast if this is what they are doing. Went back to Walmart.com right away and got my xmas shopping done, lol! Had a couple items from other partners at check out so shipping was about $38 on the entire order. All walmart.com products shipped free.

Sounds like Amazon shipping. Or anyone else for that matter. I ordered two of a small item last week from some parts company on ebay. They shipped each item separately on the same day each in it's own bubble bag. And it wasn't free shipping but at least I didn't pay for shipping twice.

Walmart has always been crappy at packing a box, but this was by far the most wasteful I've seen. The box that was mostly packaging material had dry erase markers and box boxes of pencils. The pencils were everywhere. Vitacost seems to put the most care into what they are doing when packing. Strong boxes with cardboard dividers. But even then, the soup cups tend to break open and canned stuff gets dented. The key to packing boxes is, if doesn't shake it won't break. You have to pack them tight so things don't shift inside at all.
