What do I need to sell my car? (STT)
I've bought a car twice now, so you'd think I'd remember what all I had to do, but ... I don't!! LOL
I need to sell my Jeep Wrangler X and would like a list of the things I need in hand to make the sale as smooth as it can go. Thanks all!
We sold one a couple of years ago and it was quite easy.
I think all we did was sign the title over to the buyer at the notary and then went to the DMV with them to transfer the title and obtain their plates. I think at was it! Pretty easy.

You do need to go and make sure it is transferred to the new owner. This does entail them getting insurance first. They will need a copy of your driver's license as well. If the case ids you don't see it out of your name you will be liable for anything they do before transferring the registration. So many times people just sign the back in from of a notary and leave the rest up to the buyer who probably will tarry until registration is due.
It seems like it was pretty easy to me, too, when I bought the jeep. I didn't get a new set of plates, but wasn't there something about making sure there were no outstanding tickets? Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks for the links, STXBob, none helped much, I'm afraid. :$)
HA! I am brilliant. (That is supposed to be a joke!) I found the paperwork from the sale to me of the jeep. The gal that sold it to me left me the "procedures for transferring your vehicle" YAY! So, I will share it here.

Thanks for posting this! I am about to purchase a car from another private seller and was wondering just that. I heard the BMV is a real treat 😉
You're welcome, Chris! I found a buyer for my jeep, so I'll be sure to report my experience.
