Tickets usually go quickly!
Thanks you for this article,I was just wondering about the whales today!
saw them a few years ago at what used to be frankies on stx during the mardi croix parade. saw them last year across from the divi , not sure time of year. jan or feb
Saw two humpback whales this morning while fishing about one mile off of Salt River Marina.
This is awesome, I would love to see them! Any tips for spotting them off STX -- time of day, locations, etc.?

Your best bet to see whales from shore on STX has to be the north shore. They migrate through every year. Since CarlSTX spotted them off Salt River, now is the time, they're passing by and we should hear reports of sightings for several weeks to come. Time of day doesn't seem to matter. I hear about sightings all times of day but there might be an optimal time I'm not aware of.
Good spots to look for them would be between Salt River and Carambola. Above the Cliff, Bogey's, Off the Wall, Eat at Cane Bay......... They seem to stay near a deep water channel for obvious reasons. If you see a whale inside the reef it's in trouble.*-)
If you get real lucky you'll see one breach the surface and slap itself down. Amazing!!
All of us at Island Time Tours and the Spirit of Christopher (76' Catamaran) invite you to join us for these fantastic whale watching tours. You can purchase tickets online at www.islandtimetours.net. The Feb. 26 tour is filling up fast, so be sure to book your tickets for March 4 or March 11. We'll spend a full day on the water watching whales, enjoying a nice lunch, and stopping off for a little bit of snorkeling to top the day off.
Relax... you're on Island Time! 🙂
Feel free to call if you have any further questions.

Rumors from North Shore and East End divers (STX) last week is that the underwater whalesong is tremendous. No sightings to report, just hearsay about presence.
Must be an amazing thing to witness.
The whales can also be heard on the West End too. Very incredible!
I can definitely confirm the whales are around. A whole group of us saw a few whales jumping out of the water and shooting their spouts in the air while we were on the beach in STT. It was absolutely incredible. We saw a good 4 splashes and quite a few spouts before they moved out of view.

David, Which beach may I ask? Thanks!

We were at Hull Bay. They were spotted looking out beyond Outer Brass to the right.
