I was wondering if anyone has Webtv? Webtv is a box connected to your tv with your phone line connected to your Web box. All you need is one phone line. When you get a phone call your screen freezes (from what you were looking at over the Internet) and you just take the phone call. I know back in all the states the cost is $24.95 a month. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bruce

I am on webtv right now. What would you like to know?
You have to have call waiting on your phone service in order for a call to interupt your internet. then you have to reconnect which doesnt take long. Webtv is much slower than a pc. It can do almost anthing on the internet. The up side is that it is inexpensive, doesnt crash and cant catch a virus. It also programs your television.
I get frustated with it when I am trying to shop because it is so slow. I bought this unit 3 years ago. I paid a total of 261.00 and was on the net within a half hour. I dont know a thing about computers. I love it --- i am lying in bed with my keyboard on my lap---- how convenient! When I want to do a lot of searching, I go to the library. But still every now and then I get the bug for a real pc. Anything else?

Hi Lyndasz,

Its nice to know that the Virgin Islands has Webtv (because I'm moving there within the next 4 yrs.). "I want my Webtv" - when I move there. I have Webtv back in Boston and have been using it for over 3 years now. Its not as fast as my work computer though (but not slow enough to give you anxiety attacks). The good thing about it is - NO POP UPS and IT DOESN'T CRASH like computers do (like you said). Is the price $24.95 a month like it is back in the states? I paid $200 for the Web box, keyboard (which is wirleless) and the hand held remote that I got at Best Buy. I also bought a printer (optional) for another $270 which included the connecting cable wire to the Web box to the printer. The black ink & color ink are around $30 ea. (they last along time though). You can even buy a scanner if you want for $99. Thanks for letting me know that the USVI has Webtv.

Hi East Ender,

I just called Webtv and they said they have Webtv in the USVI. Now I would like to hear from someone that has Webtv to see how they are setup with their provider and see if it works as similiar to back in the states.
