Headline: WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY EVENING IN THE FRENCHMAN'S BAY/HAVENSIGHT AREA OF ST. THOMAS
Description: The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is advising St. Thomas customers that water service will be interrupted in the Havensight/Frenchman’s Bay area from Sunday, Nov. 4, at 9 p.m. to Monday, Nov. 5, at 5 a.m. Affected areas will include Estate Thomas - South of Wendy’s Restaurant, Belleview, Havensight and Bakkeroe.
The contractor, VI Paving, is relocating the waterline from the roadway to the side walk area to accommodate the ongoing road improvement project. VI Paving will make the connection to the newly installed waterline on Frenchman’s Bay Road (Route 30) from Port of Sale Mall to Havensight Mall. The Frenchman’s Bay Road Improvement Project, funded by the Federal Highway Administration, will widen the roadway and add lanes to improve traffic-flow in the Havensight area. The cost to relocate the waterline is $114,000. The Federal Highway Administration has also provided additional funding that will allow WAPA to bury power lines in the Havensight area in an effort to improve the reliability of electric service.
Instructions: Motorists are asked to obey traffic directions for the safety of pedestrians, other motorists, and work crews in the area. Every effort will be made to restore service as soon as possible.
