Water island questions
Is there a place to park a car in Saint Thomas while living on water island.Would like to be able to get around on the main island without getting my car vandalized. How do you folks do it. Also looks like a water island scam on craigs list but not sure.
The Crown Bay marina has spots they rent to Water Island residents that has security. Try the local papers first or a Realtor. Most of the stuff on Craig's list are scams. Old Tart reports it to them daily I understand.
If you think that any ad on craigslist is a scam but aren't sure, just send a quick email asking for more details and when you get the response it's very easy to spot the scams. They're usually alleged owners who've been called away to be missionaries somewhere else in the world and need someone wonderful and caring to take care of their precious property and need you to fill out an application to send back to them. Once you do that (if you haven't already figured out it's a scam) they'll work on you to send money at which time they'll send you the keys ...
Ah, you popped in while I as writing, Ronnie! Actually only a few rental ads every day are scams and the majority are legit. The scammers come up with new tricks all the time but they really aren't overly bright. I haven't seen a WI ad recently which looks suspicious but, as I said, a short email enquiry usually outs them. 😀
You can rent parking from Crown Bay Marina and they give you a parking permit to display on dash board
Not inexpensive tho but secure. Contact the marina office for info. Monthly rates may be less expensive as had friends sail in from the states and they rented parking just for the week they were going to be anchored off of Water Island and it ran about $50.00 but their vehicle was safe.
Best to check with a Realtor if planning on renting long term on Water Island. You'll get the best info.
PM me if you want name of Realtor that lives there and would be the most help.
I contacted Linda at water island they do not have a ad for Mango Village the picture gave it away. Thanks for the info on parking that would ease one of my wife's concerns.
If you see a picture of a stateside house in the tropics, it gives it away just as the responses that Old Tart mentioned.
However, I have found scams using Realtor pics so ALWAYS dbl check and do not give info/money if something seems slightly fishy or off base.
Most rentals on Flipkey.com and VRBO are honest. Check there if looking for short terms.
We are still considering a long term in May
