WASP SPRAY....Interesting New Use For!!
PRETTY INTERESTING!!!
(Received this email from a friend in the states & thought I would share it - I did not change anything in it.)
I'm sharing this with male and female friends. I'm sure you guys won't
need this, but you might want to share this with female friends.
Even if you have a gun, here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil
plans for you....and you can carry it in your car with no problem!!
Did you know this? I didn't. I never really thought of it before.
I guess I can get rid of the baseball bat.
Wasp Spray
A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was
concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them
when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police
department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she
get a can of wasp spray instead.
The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a
lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too
close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds
an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a
can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from
people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at
home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of
use.
On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in
Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life.
Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High
School . For decades, he's suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet
spray near your door or bed.
Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."
Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than
mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if
someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the culprit in
the eyes".
It's a tip he's given to students for decades.
It's also one he wants everyone to hear. If you're looking for
protection, Glinka says look to the spray.
"That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out."
Maybe even save a life.
I've heard this one a time or two so decided to check Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/waspspray.asp
It appears to be a mixture of reality and internet lore. If you read the drawbacks of using wasp spray for self-defense you'll find there are plenty of pepper sprays that can shoot just as far as the wasp spray and they aren't illegal in some areas for self-defense like wasp spray. The problem is too many people buy the little cute fits-in-your-palm container of pepper spray which doesn't go any further than you can spit. The good sprays or more like the size of a can of soda or larger and can really shoot a good stream across a room at a distance that might still save you. Unfortunately these aren't that handy to carry around my the range where I trained in Washington State advocated keeping one by your bed.
didnt farrah fawcett use wasp spray in that movie? you know the one she trapped the guy in the fireplace. almost felt sort of sorry for the guy. she showed him who was boss.
wasn't the name of that movie called "the burning bed"
Nope, that movie was Extremities
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremities_(film)
Was she in the movie "the burning bed"?
yes, she was in The Burning Bed.
burning bed was good too. if farrah had used the wasp spray would be no reason to burn the bed.

LOL!
Funny, I just ran from a bunch of wasps that got in through a bathroom screen. I wasp-sprayed the room and closed them in there. I think there was one left when I peeked in. So I guess the spray may work for home invasions of all kinds.
