Washer/dryer recommendation

Can anyone recommend where I can find the most competitively priced retailer to purchase a Washer/Dryer stackable appliance unit on St. Croix.

I've checked Gallows Bay and they are priced at around $1,300, but since I'm not on island I'm hoping someone out there can recommend another retailer to compare and find the best bargain. It's a little difficult shopping for the best price when I'm living year round in the states.

Any help would be appreciated.

Anything in Gallows Bay is going to be more expensive. Check out Best Furniture across the parking lot from Plaza East, Sears/Kmart appliance store across from WAPA, and Oscar's in Princess.

Our phone book covers all 3 islands, and sometimes (amazing how often) their ads don't say which island the business is on, so you may get a few that can't help you. We really like Best Furniture. Also have bought from Carlos, Oscars and Bargain furniture shores. No problem with any of them. They all offer free delivery, too, usually same day.

I would suggest KMart appliance store or Carlos furniture. You could also check with Cost U Less.
We bought our dryer from KMart appliance and our washer from Carlos. They both carry stackables.
Carlos furniture phone # 340-778-6566 Kmart appliance # 340-719-9013.
You really need to price around.

i bought a maytag stackable w/d from Oscars 3 years ago, and was able to get the energy rebate on the washing machine. unfortunately the maytag is succeptable to coins getting stuck in the water pump, 3 times in 3 years at around $200 a pop. these were compact machines for fitting in a rather small closet situation.
depending on the size limits of your space, you can either buy the stacked type that has a top washer, with front load dryer above. that is probably your cheapest way to go, or you can get pretty good size front load washer and dryer combos that will stack. the front load washers are eligible for the energy star rebates, which i understand are up to 30 percent now, so even though retail price is higher, might be good choice. I bought a set from carlos furniture last spring, i think they are GE, and they have worked out great.
the front load washer uses less water, and it spins it up faster so they are almost dry when you take them out of the machine, so you will save on wapa if you use a dryer.

I'd think the break on sales tax is worth more than shipping? I dunno

If you can get energy rebate it is cheaper to buy here for certain. Only certain retailers are part of the program.

I bought a fridge from Carlos among other things and had a good experience. I got my VI Energy Star rebate in about 5 months for $220. Brought the cost of the fridge I bought to EXACTLY the same price as on the continent which is a great deal here on the island. I'd recommend checking them out for washer/dryer as well.

Kmart store started out strong but now their prices can be really high, you have to find a good sale/deal.
