My location. Again.
I've been trying to report it because I can see lights on the next hill over. However, I've been listening to their recording for the last 20 minutes. No human response on their emergency line.
Happy New Year!

I have my generator so went and turned it on with the flick of a switch. I'd turned the auto switch off on Tuesday when I didn't wish to run it the whole 10.5 hours the power was off that day. Never did get thru to any human at WAPA, tonight. I tried 3 - 4 times. I know their recorded message by heart, now!
Such service!

AC Sparty? It's too cool to run an AC.I'm thinking of turning my ceiling fan off as even with windows closed to deaden sound of generator, I'm chilly!

Ah! Power just came back on.
Only out for almost 2 hours, this time.
Silence reigns supreme!

We live on west facing slope. Little breeze plus I'm heated up watching my alma mater get thrashed.

According to someone else here. I can't remember who, WAPA never has problems so I don't know what you all are talking about. So much negativity.

Alana, you really have a long standing problem there in that little pocket of the North side. Do your immediate neighbors have the same problem? If so, have you all got together to sit down with WAPA to try and get it resolved? Seems like it's been going on for several years now and you definitely have a weak link there - very annoying!

Yep. Our pocket and my neighbors all experience the same.
Sometimes it's a blown transformer and they're not even aware of an outage which is why it's frustrating not to be able to find out or report it on the emergency line. As mentioned, I have WAPA on speed dial.
If WAPA would maintain their lines from overgrown trees, branches and vines, on a regular basis, we'd all probably have less outages, especially prior to hurricane season.

They certainly took a whoopin. We were looking for a little spark of Big 10 brightness. But we turned it off when it got too painful to watch anymore.

It's been a LONG time since I've seen any prolonged outage. Like you, I live on the North side and, other than this latest island-wide glitch, there hasn't been a prolonged outage in the over 3 years I've lived here. The longest which was about 4 hours was over a year ago but other than that the occasional outages have lasted anywhere from half an hour to an hour. That's why I asked if you and your neighbors have got together to actually sit down with WAPA to see what can be done as it's obviously an isolated but consistent problem where you are.
