WAPA
Anyone tried to pay their wapa bills online recently?
www.viwapa.vi seems to be missing in action.
i think someone complained about that within the past couple of weeks on here?
It suddenly came back up after being down for the last two days. It did warn me that the website was designed to be used with Internet Explorer or Firefox and that I appeared to be using another browser. I guess IE 11 doesn't count.
Maybe someone at wapa reads this forum.
Here, I pay the few bills I have in person. I want them to recognize me as a long-term customer so I get good service when I need it.
A friend went with me to Sprint and made a negative comment about one of the service agents. When that agent saw me in line, she smiled and told me to come on over. My friend was shocked.
This is the same agent who advised me of the higher taxes with non local numbers. If they recognize you, there's a chance for superior instead of routine service.
When I sent somebody else to her, she was not very helpful to them.
I recently got Choice internet, and pay my bill in person. I got an honest answer to a service question that I have never seen anyone mention.
Service providers are more candid and helpful in person. They don't want to be replaced by online services.
Good luck with Choice Internet.
I had such horrible service, I was forced to move on to BBVI.
Hope their service has improved or you'll be having problems whether you go in person to pay or not.
I am just the opposite. I do not like to wait in lines. I pay my bills using automation as much as possible. I pay wapa online. I use ATMs instead of going into the bank. I use the self-serve stations at Home Depot. I watch movies at home using streaming services rather than go to the theater. I am looking for fast reliable service and machines seem to do a better job.
Coming soon to a burger joint near you.

I am having an issue with Choice that my so called friends did not mention. Can't figure out if they're brain dead.
I seldom have to stand in line, but somebody else pays WAPA in person.
I traverse the food/service corridor on STT. Start at Gourmet Gallery for roast chicken or something else I might need, head north to Pueblo for favorites, head north to KMart for chips, Lipton tea bags, etc. Go to Sprint to pay bill. Then continuing across the streert to Fruit Bowl for whatever is cheaper than others I already checked. Fruit Bowl doesn't pre pack most produce so I can buy in small quantities.
Gourmet Gallery is looking into getting red velvet Oreos because I asked for them.
It is a joy to deal with the lady at Pueblo who always has red hibiscus in her hair.
Kmart has more turnover but there are always products I need from the store. Always worth it to check sales. Got a great jacket for, I think, $3.
I would rather stand in line if it decreases my chances of account hacking.

She told me her husband picks one for her every morning.
Sweet, huh?
Can she share him?
I'm with Rotor on this one. Robots don't suck their teeth when they're annoyed that I interrupted their personal cell phone conversation with my incessant need for customer service.
lol
WHAT! Not another WAPA thread! Come on! What is this? The 10 thousandth thread this year?;)
LOL
I was at my rental property today and a wapa guy came by to install the new smart meter. Wonder how well they will work?
Alana --
As for the new electronic meter, mine was installed a month ago. My usage of kWh hours was reduced by 1/3 of normal. This likely means that the old meter was reading faster than it should have.
With the lower rates of about 39-40cents and the new meter, my electric bill was almost half the cost this month compared to the past 12 months.
I am liking the new meter!
Good to know. Thanks.
I'll look forward to them getting around to my home (eventually)!
Any rate decreases are more than welcome.
i wonder if they will come here with the new meters-they never came out with the new evo
Have you tried to phone WAPA to pay the bill with your credit card?
I was on hold for hours on different days.
I've been looking at several sites related to the government and utilities in the islands. They all seem to have multiple problems. Missing and broken links everywhere. It seems the only sites that work properly are owned and operated by independent people and companies. Even some company websites seem to be hit and miss. No good web developers?
It's not that there are no good web developers...its that the government is broke and doesn't pay their bills. In any ways, living in the VI is like living in the past as we're about 20 years behind the mainland in many respects. Just my opinion.
Even when I moved here decades ago I had several friends with really good businesses who very quickly learned that supplying the government with products and services would guarantee their insolvency.
Never take an order from the government without a firm Purchase Order. A Requisition is never good enough.

True - but a PO doesn't guarantee timely payment.

This is actually one of the things I most enjoy about life here - I find when I am up in the States that the pace, the consumerism and the 'keep up with the Jone's' frame of minds has less appeal each visit - I have lived in the VI for a long time now and rarely get annoyed and never get upset about many of the quirks of daily life that seem to bother some folks - sure things have changed dramatically over the last 40 years here - and I am not espousing a return to the 'good old days' but having the world at my fingertips on a smartphone,[if I had one], any product available to buy at a moments whim everywhere and the legendary efficient stateside services just doesn't seem to make it a better and more perfect life.
Just my Opinion.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for your input on that one. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, if you are not going to get paid, you probably are not going to do it for anyone.
