"Approximately 570 customers were reenergized in both districts Thursday as reconstruction and restoration work continued.
On St. Croix, additional customers were restored in areas including: St. John, Grove Place, Calquahoun, Plessen, Upper Love, Anna’s Hope, Judith’s Fancy, Mon Bijou, Whim, Diamond, Carlton, William’s Delight, St. Georges, La Grange, Cottage, Peter’s Rest and Airport Road.

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority announces the schedule of locations where crews will be working to restore service to customers from today, throughout the holiday weekend, to December 29. To date, more than 33,000 customers have been restored across the territory.

I say BS about this list.
Rattan hasn't been on this list since they powered the Governor's mother the day before Thanksgiving.
There were 4 trucks and at least 10 men below my house in Rattan yesterday working on one pole "ALL DAY LONG"!
I don't know how to explain this as I have personally seen fair more accomplished by these crews than this meager effort.
Could it be another screw up by WAPA in ordering and receiving parts for this repair?
Hope they return today, they left their sign on the road, so there is hope.

They energized a few blocks a few weeks ago in Judith's Fancy and then left. Haven't seen them since.

Restoration crews worked throughout the holiday weekend to restore service to approximately 2,700 customers between Friday and Tuesday. On Christmas Day, more than 600 customers were restored across the territory.

We were restored 12/24/17 here in the top of Rattan.
They say the reason it took so long is that we were changed from the tail end of Feeder 4A to the tail end of 6A.
Go figure?

WAPA will today begin a No Customer Left Behind campaign, which will be aimed at reconnecting all customers who can be restored to the electric grid, and who may have been bypassed during the first phase of service restoration.
“As the restoration effort on St. John nears completion, the No Customer Left Behind campaign will begin with customers on St. John having the opportunity to inform WAPA if they have not yet been restored. This will include customers who are either missing service connections to their weather heads, missing meters, or who were bypassed because their weather head and/or meter base was not ready to be reenergized in previous stages of the restoration,” said Clinton Hedrington, Jr., Acting Executive Director / CEO of WAPA.
As of Tuesday, approximately 98% of St. John has been restored. Currently, the No Customer Left Behind campaign only applies to St. John customers. “Once we get closer to the end of the restoration effort on St. Thomas & St. Croix, identical campaigns will be launched for those islands as well,” Hedrington said.
WAPA will continue to identify priority work areas for restoration each week, and restore customers daily until every home or business that can be connected to the electric grid is reenergized."

The restoration effort continued across the territory throughout the weekend with approximately 1,150 customers restored. The additional customers were reenergized in the following areas:
St. Croix: Cane Bay, Clairmont, Carlton, Cane Carlton, Concordia, La Vallee, Mon Bijou, Mountain, North Star, Tulipan Welcome, Two Brothers, Two Williams, Vista Concordia and Whim. The Figtree sewage pump station was also re-energized over the weekend.

WAPA has stopped posting updates over the past few days. This tidbit from the Consortium comes from the little ticker tape banner that runs across WAPAs home page and previously posted information
"The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said in a release issued Saturday that most of the Virgin Islands have been restored with power, with 92 percent of St. Croix, 91 percent of St. Thomas and 99 percent of St. John now restored.
Customers are advised that WAPA continues to receive regular shipments of materials and supplies in both districts to complete the restoration. Transformers, which are vital to the continue restoration of service, are being dispatched with crews as soon as they arrive."

Customers can text their account number and request restoration of service to the following numbers: On St. Croix, 340-244-9004 and on St. Thomas – St. John, 340-244-8072. The customer’s information will be collected by a WAPA employee on the respective island, and will then be channeled to the appropriate divisions so restoration can be scheduled. “The goal is once a customer makes contact with the No Customer Left Behind hotline, assuming all documentation is in order, that customer will be restored within three days,” he added. Customers who cannot experience service restoration within three days will be contacted and provided with a projected restoration date.
As of Monday, more than 46,000 customers have been restored territory-wide, which represents approximately 95% of customers eligible for restoration.
WAPA customers who have not yet been restored, are encouraged to call or text the No Customer Left Behind hotline on their respective island. We continue to Recover, Rebuild & Restore.

WAPA BOARD APPROVES COMPOSITE POLES PURCHASE AND CONTRACTS FOR THEIR INSTALLATION
The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority’s plan to add new, more resilient, composite poles to the electric grid edged closer to reality Monday, WAPA announced today. The utility’s governing board approved the purchase of more than 6,500 composite poles, and ratified contracts with two companies to install the newer type poles.
As part of a sweeping package of hazard mitigation projects aimed at hardening the transmission and distribution systems, WAPA intends to install the composite poles along critical feeder paths and on key transmission circuits. “The goal is to install the poles in heavily-populated areas. These poles can better withstand higher wind speeds when compared to traditional wooden poles. If our system fares better in major storms, we can restore electrical service to our residents and businesses in a more efficient manner,” said Interim Executive Director Clinton Hedrington, Jr.
Meeting on St. Croix, the governing board approved contracts with BBC Electrical Service and Haugland Energy for the composite pole installations. WAPA plans to install approximately 2,800 poles on St. Croix, 2,200 on St. Thomas, 180 on Water Island, and 1,100 on St. John.
