WAPA gives outages for Valentine's!
Well, we got thru the 11 inches of very heavy rain between 8 PM - 8AM overnight here in STT but WAPA decided to make our day even more special with outages on a few feeders. It's been off for a few hours now in my location on the Northside and as far as Ridge Rd. on east end.
I didn't venture into town today but the delivery gal who came to house earlier said things were a mess. The rain was a solid, continuous downpour. At one point, around 3AM, the noise from the rain on the roof and from the mass of water rushing down the hill, like a river, into Dorothea Bay was so loud it woke me up. The brown runoff water extends almost to Inner Brass Is.
People need to stay out of the water due to all the pollutants from septic and animal waste and pesticides in the run-off that gets deposited in the waters of our bays and beaches after these heavy rain events.
Hopefully, WAPA will be back on soon for everyone without power.
Nice not to have a leaky roof, a full cistern and a generator!
Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's!;)

wow, you guys really got hit-i did not see anything here
Luckily, there was no wind, just heavy, non stop rain for easily 12 hours! No interruption. I loved it and was happy to be home and not to have had to drive in the dangerous conditions it creates.
Just so you know, WAPA is still out!
Perfect night for dining by candlelight!
Wonder how many restaurants have generators!
WAPA tun arf the dam lights again!
Had some heavy winds go through South East mainland tonight with some sporadic power outages too.
i love a weekend all day rain. i do not love wapa outages. hope it is back on today
It went off about 2-2:30pm and finally back on around 9pm.
Some advice for dealing with WAPA power- Most people know there are product safety standards in the US and products are tested by UL or other labs to ensure they are safe. However in the US there are no mandatory requirements for products to deal with the crap on the utility line (other than being safe). Europe does have such requirements and products marked with “CE” are tested to meet more stringent standards to deal with surges, transients, voltage dips and interrupts, in other words all that stuff that makes the lights flicker and go dim, without causing improper operation or failures. Most consumer products nowadays have the CE mark so they can be sold into Europe but if you come across one that doesn’t, it may or may not deal with that stuff in a good way.
