WAPA estimated bills
How do you tell if a WAPA bill is estimated or just has a bad meter reading? I've had 2 months in a row now that the meter readings are higher than actual. Is there a code on the bill that tells you it is estimated?
Hi GeoffMichelle,
I don't know what determines one place from another from being "estimated" or not. In my particular case, my place is estimated because I have a rather nasty canine blocking access to the meter. In the beginning, I tried to get the times and date for the WAPA guy so I could be home to move the dog(s). Of course, they couldn't pin-point the time, but the day of your 'next meter reading' is on your bill. After not being here for the WAPA guy (can't miss a day of work or I'll not be able to PAY the WAPA bill), ...and this was WAY before all the increases, I got estims. When I let the WAPA dude read the meter approx. 6-8 months later, my bill was through the roof!
Again, this was before the ridiculous hikes , but if you have an estimated bill, think carefully about whether you really want it to be read. ALSO, it doesn't mean it will stay the same if you try to bring your bill down.
I changed ALL of my light bulbs over to the twirly'gigs...energy ones. Even with estimated readings, my bill has gone down by $100.00 one month and another $30.00 this month. Be vigilant in checking the meter #'s yourself if you think it's off.
(I hope I didn't just jinx myself for next month :-o)
