im not sure if you ever bought property in the VI but its not as easy as it is stateside. i would strongly suggest getting a realtor to represent you and you will have to have an attorney

I don't agree that you necessarily need to have a realtor involved in the process IF you have identified a property that you may be interested in. I purchased my home from a buyer directly and I know that it would have been significantly more expensive if realtors had been retained by either side.
You will, of course, require the services of an attorney...and I don't say that solely because I am one.
If you are willing to pound the pavement, review the Island Trader and the MLS religiously, and ask everyone you know if they know of anyone selling, you can do it without a realtor (not that they aren't wonderful resources...:) to Alexandra Marshall).

I know of a 2/2, with loft area, FSBO at Palm Gardens that may be available... top floor. Probably $220K range.
