What is this obsession here about spelling?
I agree Trade! We have permanent editors on this board. Last time I checked no one mentioned submitting their thesis.
Hello folks,
We all make mistakes with spelling and grammar; some more... some less. If you can understand what the person is saying in their post even with the typos then you need not tell them about their spelling issues. And if you can't understand what they are saying; ask them to clarify what it is you don't understand. Please, no more correcting participants on their spelling & grammar.
Thank you,
--Islander
Is there a vet out there? It is my understanding that dogs have completely different digestive systems from humans, so what would obviously cause major distress to our systems, doesn't harm dogs. Also, there are cultures where even the humans eat really strange things.
My vets have never suggested the ultra premium food. I bought some, (see, I LOVE my dogs), and my dogs wouldn't eat it. They are mature dogs and not about to be taught new tricks.
barbie asked about phlebotomy jobs, Alpo and Purina. Why in the world is she getting this onslaught about her children? Sounds to me like she has it all together. Two apparent successes already under her belt, her husband is already here, and, on top of that, he is a Crucian.
I totally agree with the tone of JE's last post. I find it beyond offensive to suggest any less concern or affection for one's pet because they don't adhere to the same school of thought regarding dog food. Do vegetarians love their children less... or more?
I hope my spelling, grammer and punctuation are acceptable. If not, please refer to Board Rules for New Members.
I have an 18 year old cat with an autoimmune disorder. A special, super-duper-premium diet was strictly prescribed for him -- and guess what?
He absolutely refused to eat that "Crap" (in his humble opinion), started losing a ton of weight, and took a serious turn for the worse. I nearly lost him. I gave him back his Fancy Feast, and Iams along with his immunosuppressant medication and he is relatively healthy and happy. He has been successfully living with his disease for about 5 years now.
thank you linda i have no concerns about my kids they are set. but i have never brought an ''american '' dog to the caribbean before, sorry i might sound little arrogant at trimes but i'm not , i'm just enjoying myself on this board. any body know anything about ECG technicians or specialist ? i would be grateful thanks.
thank you islander, i am very mature young woman small talks like those don't bother me at all , the iformation i am asking for some of which is being answered others not ,but its ok i am very focused, my life is set we are ok i just want theese folkes to know we are not rich , but we are not struggling either ,people are gonna pry its just for people to understand when someone post something you just have to expect any and every comments.i'm straight ''mon'' thanks to all .
Barbie, to add to the actual topic, as far as dogs go.. I feed my Crucian mutts Pedigree and they seem to be thriving,, good teeth, shiny coats, great attitudes, not too fat or skinny. (Well, one is getting a little porky, but we are trying to cut back her food a little) The only thing that really took me by surprise here was the TICKS!! Gross... I had spent the last ten years in Phoenix before moving here and had never even seen a tick. Here, we have them constantly.. I have them on frontline, collars, sprays and I still pick ticks off of them daily. It's horrible.
At least I finally got the cats pretty flea free with the revolution and collar combination.
I can relate to the ticks. One of my dogs is a banquet for them & the other doesn't have any. I'm using everything I can find & still pulling them off. I'm terrified of tick fever but I'm hoping the latest stuff from the Vet will eliminate them.
beth&trade you guys cracking me up laugh........ha.... i let them outside in our yard and have to pick ticks off them all the time .that's a little difficult for me though because they are part chow with a lot of hair i'm thinking the next time i take them to the spa i'm going to have them trimmed for summer. are their any good dog spas there?.....more concerns again for my critters. thanks for the helpful hints.
There are some groomers on STT so I'm quite sure there are in STX. I hate ticks. Both of mine are inside dogs & only get walked on leashes but one is a real magnet for them. I'm going to bugbomb the house too.
I know Dr Casey of Progressive Veterinary does dog grooming at the Gallows Bay (not sure about the princess location) location. There's another vet in the 5 corners area and then there's Dr Deller (not sure if thats spelled right) out by F'sted. Love Dr Casey have had to call him few times in the middle of the night and he's always handled any problems I have had and hes a great photographer too!
There is a wonderful lady at the Progressive's Princess location who did a great job grooming my dog last year. I usually get my dog (a long-haired little crucian) clipped at the beginning of the summer. Dr. Hess is the vet in 5 corners. He is very good and often looks at injured sea-turtles we encounter! I would go to Hess or Casey for any major problems (like surgery etc...), but use Doc Deller for the everyday stuff. He has a good clinic and great staff too.
There are a lot of chow-chows on island. I'm not quite sure what their grooming requirements are--but I know that for some long-haired large dogs, clipping hair for the hot environments actually does more harm because they use their coats as insulation against heat gain too. So it messes with their natural heat regulating ability. You may want to talk to your vet first before you clip.
we do clip but not too low that's with the vets doing it for us, i'm sure we are gonna enjoy stx.
Best of luck to you and your family! I hope you enjoy the island! 🙂
thanks much. does any nurses on this board know or can relate to being a EKG technician on stx?, and if you do what are the availability for jobs? any imput on that will be greatly appreciated thanks.
I bow to your authority, Mell......and JE. Obviously I have no clue about which I speak. I'll allow you both to be the dispensers of wisdom regarding animal-related matters even though Barbie apparently appreciated my answer to her question while everyone was busy arguing about spell check......and whether the vegetarian loves their kid? I guess I fail to make the connection.....but never mind, whatever, whatever, and I will politely exit stage right.
Jaye, you would not be the first to find me "beyond offensive". Oops, sorry.
Oh for the love of God - go have a drink with your wife, okay?
Islander, JE isn't playing pretty with me. I promised to stay off the board for 5 days, but I didn't pinky swear like promoguy.....why can someone tear me a new one and you don't step in? Wah.......
Becky,
I was just offering an anecdote and not challenging you. As I have told you before, I think you are a hoot and I enjoy your wit very much.
Have a wonderful night!
Fondly,
🙂 Mell
beckyR you guys crack me up, i must say . i enjoy you guys, is it possible for people to meet with some of the posters? .do you all have some kind of association there? if not , why not form one ? then once on island i'll get more humor.
Bad idea Barbie. Some of these folks type like they love ya, but in real life I'd rather wrestle an alligator.
This thread is a little tough to follow when so many posts have been deleted. Becky R is one of my favorites, even if she has slugged me a time or two. I love her wit and prose.
I do agree with promoguy (again). I get the feeling some would just as easily run over you with a spiked tire filled with mango juice as have a friendly conversation.
No more wrestling alligators for you m'lad. I have seen the photos and the baby oil stained lime green thong was way too much for me.
I don't quite "get" all the defensiveness. Even vets don't agree on the food issue. What works for some doesn't for others.
My dogs thrive on Science diet to the amazement of my vet. Others believe in raw food which isn't practical in my situation but I'm glad it works for others.
