I would figure rather than worrying about who gets more vacation days, people would join together and picket the airport and roadways where they will be travelling with signs stating "WHERE THE HELL IS MY OBAMA CARE", "DID YOU FORGET ABOUT US?", "HOW ABOUT THE FOLKS LIVING HERE WHO DON'T QUALIFY FOR MEDICAIDE"?

Four million people losing their unemployment benefits and have no idea how they're going to support their families and these 2 A-Holes are having a blast on the taxpayers. SCREW THEM!!

Do You? Obama has stated more then once that the "private sector is doing just fine". So how hard did he fight for extended benefits etc. He needs to pull his head out of his delusional ass.

Instead of extending unemployment benefits they need come up with government work-fare. We have much crumbling infrastructure on island and in the US. They should get paid to WORK. During the great depression they came up with CCC.

That's a great idea. I know lots of people that would looove to have a job. After all, they're all getting rich on unemployment. Too bad obama's entire administartion is in denial.

LindaJ, there was no such vote NOT to extend the benefits. That is the fact.

The 6 month extension was not included in the budget since there was no funding source.

The way to get people employed is for the government to stop piling on the private sector with more regulations and taxes that cost companies money, obamacare that costs companies money, etc, etc. These costs raise the price of goods and prevent growth. Take the shackles off and then business owners can grow instead of implementing strategies to just survive (eg, lower costs by eliminating people from their rolls). I love that most people think of government as the solution. More money, more money from the government. And where does this money come from? Obama's stash? No, the producers. The government produces nothing. It confiscates money and spends it. Unfortunately most people have never run a business and have little understanding of Big or small economics, or how the producers are the people who create jobs and hire people. Soon, those that create and sell things will have no incentive to do so because the result of their hard work gets confiscated.

Yet lobbyists spend millions courting to have new legislation go against the best interests of our environment, air, water, earth, health, wildlife and people and exploit the planet for their benefit. They get their way, especially when $$ goes into pockets. The majority of people are apathetic and that includes the majority of all of us here that do not speak out and do something.
We all must become a call for change or be the lone wolf howling in the wilderness waiting to be killed. (or Orcas & Dolphins) in the tank as it is)

Some people tend to forget that our wars and recessions started in the republican Bush (both senior and junior) era.
It's been a long haul to get back to here we are today. Especially with a republican majority that blocks Obama at every course of action.

The Work-fare program is a great idea.
25 or so years ago there was a segment on 60 Minutes about a town that had a Work-Fare program. Everyone loved it including the people who were on it. Then someon from, I believe it was the ACLU, took the town to court. The court found that if the people who were on it lived anywhere else they would not have to work for their money and it was found unconstitutional so the program went away.
Congress will never come up with a program as it would make some of their voters angry that they now have to work instead of sitting on their asses.

The way to get people employed is stop sending jobs over seas.

Honda, for example....built in the USA and exported to Korea (for example) ...those could have been built in Japan and kept Japanese people employed. They are complaining that Honda is outsourcing their jobs - TO THE USA!
